Hmm... I will probably go for it (I am really curious to hear Henry Grimes), but Sabir Mateen's presence does not inspire me. Got news from Leo Feigin - Some Combination of Fingers and Passion will be reissued soon. John still has to buy it from me though (I'm happy and honoured to have my 100th post in the funny rat thread!)
  2. I'm on 56k modem, so it would probably take as long to download as it would be to send

Geoff - email sent. I'll place your order now. I spent my very last penny getting the album for you. I might be a week or so before I can save enough money to post the album. I'll try to get it to you as soon as possible. So much for being an unemployed full time university student that has absoutely no money in the bank.
  4. I'd like to maybe participate in this. How does it work? I live in Australia, does this mean that sending something would cost a lot of money? anyhow, tell me if I can join this Organissimo tradition!

John, I bought the album for you. Please email me your address. Thanks, Geoff.
  6. but perhaps you are looking for something that starts with "Hear" I'm not sure at the moment of an album starting with hear, if so I could say Don Cherry's Hear and Now. or if it is Here that you need. I could say Animal Collective's Here Comes the Indian. Take you pick
  7. I could say Dewey Redman's The Ear of The Behearer (as in the hear in Behearer).
  8. is it "Here" or "Hear" that we are looking for?

Geoff - I was just kidding about the six minutes, I wish there was a store like that one in this area! where is your area. I've forgotten where you are from. I know D.D and King Ubu are from Europe. Aren't you from somwhere in America. I sent you an email, begging for you buy me something from VHF records in exchange for the Sergey Kuryokhin (VHF records offer their album for areally cheap price of $9 for a cd!)

Geoff - I would love to hear this disc! I sent you an email. Let me know if it didn't get through. Get two, get two!!!!! oops sorry D.D. I actually had another copy of it! But to think I gave it away to a friend for free as a gift!

Geoff - I would love to hear this disc! I sent you an email. Let me know if it didn't get through. I'm totally out of money. I spent all my money at this store. They were selling all free jazz albums for $7.50 new. I bought stuff from Hatology/Hat[now]art/Hatart/Victo/Leo/Intakt!! So now my life savings is $0. I'm just glad I still live at home, or otherwise I'd be on the streets with not a penny! They also have a copy of Morton Feldman's For Bunita Marcus on Hatart, another lovely album. So does this mean you have gone from making the offer to spending all your money in 6 minutes? That is quite impressive, even by Funny Rat standards! it is still in the store, I'll have to skip lunch tommorow to buy it for you. It is such a great album, I'm very willing to do this for you.

I sent you an email reply John, I think a trade would be the best option. Although I'm not sure what you can trade.

a local store is selling a copy of Sergey Kuroykhin's Some Combinations of Fingers and Passion, for a dirt cheap price. Less than $10 US. If it is indeed out of print, and anyone here wants to have a copy, I can buy it for you and do a trade, or perhaps cost + postage.
  16. Sorry Geoff, I was being unintentionally hemispherist!!!!! Shut your eyes, play a few spring tunes and imagine you're up this end of the world for a moment. Incidentally, I didn't think Sydney had seasons. Whenever we see it on the TV people are on the beach! well Sydney does have seasons, be in less pronounced than England, America's East Coast (eg New York). Today's morning was rather chilly in Sydney. Of course chilly by my standards is anything under 20 C
  17. I live in the Southern Hemisphere, so it is Autumn music for me. I guess I'll have to listen to Autumn Leaves.
  18. Jimmy Smith - Bucket (original Blue Note Pressing, cover is a little beat up, but the condition of the LP is pretty good) for $12 AUS (around $9 US) Art Farmer Quartet featuring Jim Hall - Interaction (original 1963 Atlantic pressing, condition 'very good') for $8 AUS (around $6 US) World Saxophone Quartet - Plays Duke Ellington (very good condition) for $8 AUS around $6 US Miles Davis - ESP (original mint condition?) for $12.50 AUS (around $9.25 US) Cedar Walton - First Set (original Steeplechase 1978, excellent condition) for $8 AUS (around $6 US) Abdullah Ibrahim - Autobiography (very good to mint Double LP set on the 'Plainisphare' label) for $10 AUS (around $7.50 US) Dave Burrell - Echo (Classic BYG recording, reissue on 'Affinity', very good condition) for $8 AUS (around $6 US) Anthony Braxton - Seven Standards 1985, Volume 1 (Mint condition, features Braxton playing with Hank Jones!) for $8 AUS (around $6 US) Rahsaan Roland Kirk - Blacknuss (Mint condition) for $18 AUS (around $13.50 US) Roland Kirk - We Three Kings (repressing, from the mid 70s) for $12.50 AUS (around $9.25 US) So some rather nice LP purchases Not bad value too.

  20. Hey Chuck. I'm sorry to have caused so much fuss with my post on another board. I didn't know people from here would ever find it

I have 2 copies of 'Some Combination of Fingers and Passion'. But just the other day, I give it to a friend as a gift. So now I only have one copy.
  22. yes, the first quote was from me. I guess I kind of got over ambitious, which made me seem like I was a 'know it all' kind of person. Which I am not. So like, I hope you guys can forgive me, for my early posts. I do wish to contribute.
  23. Naxos is an excellent label. My absolute favourite is the Leo Ornstein recording they released A seriously under-rated composer!
