While Chu didn't lead many dates (I think a pair), he was often a featured sideman on dates led by others. He appeared on small band sides with Lionel Hampton, Benny Goodman, Hot Lips Page, Teddy Wilson, Benny Carter, Wingy Manone, Spike Hughes, Red Allen, and probably others I'm forgetting. He was the featured tenor man with the greatest of Fletcher Henderson's bands--the 1936 aggregation, and recorded at least a dozen titles with that band. He also played briefly with Count Basie, and recorded at least once with him.
