  1. So far today: Oscar Peterson Trio With Milt Jackson Very Tall Lou Donaldson Good Gracious Grant Green Green Street Herbie Hancock Inventions & Dimensions
  2. I have a few Mickey & The Soul Generation tracks, and they definitely funk it up! Two cds-worth must be funk heaven! :rsmile: :rsmile:
  3. Yep, $10,000.00 for an original Elvis Presley LP, way back in the 1970s. I've never paid more than $25! I don't think I'd ever take it that far.
  4. Have you guys ever seen someone pay more than that for a record? $2800--INSANITY!
  5. Right now: "Le Soleil Est Pres De Moi" Beautiful song. :rsmile: :rsmile:
  6. Mel Brooks' History Of The World Part One featured the Inquisition as a musical. I may have liked that, but I won't be watching Chicago any time soon.
  7. My brother killed heavy metal for me. If he doesn't have a copy of every heavy metal cd ever printed I would be suprised and I heard it so much growing up it got so I couldn't stand to hear it anymore. After years of jazz listening metal sounds less sophisticated than it did when I was a kid. That said, among the few bands I could still listen to of all that 80s metal would be Black Sabbath/Ozzy and AC/DC. My friend does pyro for lots of heavy metal bands including Ozzy and AC/DC, so I've actually seen them both live from backstage which was interesting.
  8. I took a risk once on Harvey Mason Funk In A Mason Jar Japanese Import $21.99--not at all worth it.
  9. I guess it's old news that was new to me. I found the list to be a little daunting...not sure what my point was either.
  10. Right now: I can never get enough "Gibraltar." :rsmile:

Bossa Nova Brasil is the compilation "Consolicao" is on, and a fine compilation it is. I've been in a hard bop phase, but when I swing back to things Brasilian I'm thinking Baden Powell will be a first choice. :rsmile:

I have this track by Baden Powell called "Consolicao" on a compilation that is some really tasty acoustic guitar playing. Is that song a good representation of his other material?
  14. Of the three I have, the Kynard is my favorite. Some good, greasey funk on "Sweetheart"--and "Winter's Child" has this real nice laid-back groove.
  15. Playing this again this morning... :rsmile: :rsmile:
  16. Tonight: Les McCann Invitation To Openness Just picked this up tonight, along with Larry Coryell's Barefoot Boy. I am listening to the Les McCann for the first time and it has yet to make a noise I didn't instantly love. :rsmile:
  17. I'm considering doing a night session at this dump an hour from LA called Mountain High(should be Hill Low). It's super small, but can be fun. Then again it can be a windy, slushy, icy-hard, and/or crowded as hell. At least it's only 20 clams. Wish I was in that Colorado powder!
  18. "Destination Paradise" is on this disc: :rsmile:
  19. That's funny shit. There's a Yusef Lateef song called "Destination Paradise" that has this really slow bass line intro and upon hearing it a friend of mine asked, "What is this heroin music we're listening to?" I love slow mellow stuff just as much as I love fast stuff, but I could see what he was saying.
  20. Donald Byrd Electric Byrd "Xibaba" :rsmile:
  21. Right now: The Blue Yusef Lateef, the song "Like It Is", a personal favorite.
