I'm a retired postal administrator. Loved jazz since my teenage years. I'm particularly interested in 50s/60s hard bop, Miles Davis, Gerry Mulligan, in fact I like most thing from that period. I'm partial to a bit of free jazz too as long as it's not too noisy. Also I've been a big David Murray fan ever since his first album in 1976. Outside of jazz I enjoy a bit of fishing when the weather's nice and can spend a lot of time watching movies (mostly dvds these days rather than the cinema.

1. Very fond of this version of the Messengers
2. All the tracks were on YouTube.
3. Nigel Price Organ Trio + Vasilis Xenopoulos. Live At The Crypt. A new release from one of the UK's best groups. If you don't know Price he's worth a punt.
4. Agreed. I have the Finnish cd - excellent music. For an odd version of Flowers try the Skatalites with Murray.
5. After several weeks of Blue Note only its time for a change. Astonishing stuff. So is the following.
6. Byrd's Eye View is particularly important to my listening. Sixty odd years ago I had an Esquire EP with Hank's Other Tune on one side. I was totally knocked out by Hank's composition, his playing and that of Byrd and the other participants. I'd never heard these players before and I knew this music was for me. So this was my introduction to Mobley and hard bop. Love it still.
7. Love those jams.
8. This one definitely has its moments.
9. Gave my SHM cd a spin yesterday. Nice stuff. Also yesterday
