Mine arrived today, very quickly, from Amazon France, slightly cheaper than Amazon UK. Have hardly any of the material so an easy purchase. The Konitz is 'Lee Konitz Plays' Vogue LD 169, recorded 18/09/53.

I have an abiding memory of sitting (not standing - is that right?) in a booth at HMV Oxford Street, with a friend listening to Compulsion!!!!! by Andrew Hill. It sounded great and I bought it without hesitation. Thanks for the photos, the staircase is memorable.

A trip to FNAC in Lille at the end of a holiday in France used to be a treat but in recent years I've stopped going. All the branches that I've been in carry very little jazz and far less than they used to.

The UK itunes store and Juno.co.uk have them both as well. Slightly more expensive - but bit rates vary, I think. Amazon seem to be VBR, not 320. Are there any more?

I actually went to the trouble of tracking down the two Mole Jazz LPs. I might lean more towards going the download route ($22), though it isn't clear what the bitrate is (I would suspect 320 but I'll try to find out). It's classy that they (CD Baby) let you read through the very interesting liner notes by Laurie before committing either way. I've got the first one. Ordered from the label website in Holland. Efficient service. A very listenable cd but JC is really only a soloist. There is some music by the band on, I think, youtube.
