I pm'ed mikeweil as well... For some reason I thought I was later this year and nearly my entire collection is still in boxes following my move to Atlanta, therefore I am lame... Apologies... Someone want to flip? Or step up in general?

But was it a book from this "new imprint" or just a HarperCollins book? It makes sense for this new imprint to discourage bookstore orders, if they plan to rely completely on Internet sales. It's the bit about "sharing profits" with writers but not paying advances that I wonder about. I'd be interested to hear the details of that. I'd have to double check, already added it to the random library. Box of multiple books to a professor who no longer works with us. Publishers complain about book buyers and comped copies but their reps are often the major breakdown quite frankly.

And yet, I received a complimentary copy of one of their books in the mail today for evaluation and implementation in comp classes....

Less than a week ago I thought a lot of you were just overstating things. Then I walked into, what has been historically, the best Borders in Orlando for Jazz and saw that the 80 foot section gutted as well. Once condensed and made to look normal I would be suprised if it takes up a third of the space it used too... At least this will keep me from splurging

Like many, I don't buy there without a coupon, but I do still pick up the major releases at Borders like the new Charles Lloyd for 40% yesterday....

Usually led by musicians and tunes from record to record... having my stuff in a database helps especially for the songs...

Is this the same guy? Yes. And Rod's fine, or at least seems to be. Probably just busy. He's got lots of irons in the fires. Indeed, a very interesting guy to say the least... he occasioanlly posts in the what ar eyou listening to thread over at AAJ too... only has two posts though because the previous one is deleted when he posts a new one. The only reason he has two is because a thread got locked on him...

Well, Art disagrees with you, but what does he know about that... The suggestion was that Pepper became a lesser musician because he listened to Coltrane. I don't hear that, but maybe you do? He's mentioned himself that he became somewhat of an acolyte and had to distance himself. But he integrated it fully. I don't see this as a point to dismiss his work at the time. I think it's beautiful to hear a musician constantly moving and evolving...
