i saw two CD's "Jumpin' Punkins" and "The World of Cecil Taylor" in my local shop yesterday. both had 1989 on them. have any of the candid CD's been remastered more recently and if not is the sound OK on these 1989 ones? thanks

got the 24 bit remastered CD from black lion yesterday. the sound is pretty good on it. my first solo album by taylor. i've only heard conquistador and at newport 1957 before. this is quite a bit different but i'm liking it so far. played andrew hill's live at montreux straight after. it was interesting to heard these two great solo albums back to back.

Revenant is planning big Albert Ayler box
reg replied to ghost of miles's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
trying to find the cheapest place for this boxset Blahdvd.com have it for £62.99 with free p&p (link) but i've never bought from this site. can't figure if this is cheaper than CDUniverse's price of $74 plus shipping to UK plus duty. probably not much in it. is the release date 27th of this month? -
Art Ensemble Of Chicago - Live From The Jazz Showcase (link) does anyone know if this DVD is worth picking up and what year the concert is from? thanks

just wondering, any news on his book yet? i was listening to paris blues today and it got me thinking that for someone to have been going as long as horace there is not much live recording by him. i wonder why bluenote waited till 1961 to record his quintet. to me that line up screamed out to be caught live. when you think how much messengers live stuff is out there (no bad thing). noticed that the Horace Silver Quintet appeared on something called JAZZ GOES TO COLLEGE on the BBC 1966/ 67 (link). is this film lost forever?

after reading clementine's reply on the thread Blue Harlem it's made me wonder if i should really still be buying stuff from Proper. it's so cheap and a lot of their boxsets give a great overview to the artists, esp from the 40's. but the whole copyright issue is starting to be a big problem for me. any thoughts?
