  1. you mean by midnight tonight? just kidding. no one else is buying, so I don't see any issue with that. Do you want all this stuff? Wish I could figure out how to use the PM pages here... Do i need a different browser? Indeed, clifford_thornton (aka layawayguy) has taken the DP bundle. More Dead to come, including one of those 90s boxsets. Thanks
  2. yo son(ny max): Where did you get that one? Nelson Muntz? Hilarious! Just to show that my heart is in the right place, I will send you CDRs of 4-23-77, 5-9-77, 5-8-77, 7-8-78, and maybe some diapers. I'll need an address. May 1977 isn't even my favorite (1968-72, thanks for asking), but the music was powerful then and it seems to help the anti-Dead at least understand the fuss and find enjoyment during 3 hour car rides. Cheers, Dan

  4. Finally on CD (by Dusty Groove), how sad that it arrives after his passing. Does anybody know if this ranks with PL's best?
  5. Huge thumbs up for Lacy's Five Facings on FMP. Excellent price too here. And I wish I had the dough for the Michael Moore titles. Unique art here, not available at FYE, Walmart, or J&R. (and btw what would be the monthly cost to list this great mostly OOP stuff on Amazon Marketplace?)
  6. Let's lift a pint to the memory of Bonzo. Thanks for many good times Big John. Gallows Pole and Ramble On tonight it will be. Agreed, some clueless shit here folks. Why a "worst" thread?
  7. Does FMP sell any of their old catalog directly on their site? FMP CDs have become really scarce, I am amazed at how few DMG and Cadence and the usual online sources have. I need to find the first Die Like a Dog (Fragments of....Ayler).
  8. Who says the people at Lonehill are good? Do they pay the artists for their work?
  9. Is it possible to see the jazzwerkstatt offerings in English? If these catalogs can't be monetized, it is hard to find fault with decisions to avoid losses on new reissue efforts. But when that becomes the case I don't understand these properties not reverting to the artists, many of whom can find a way to reissue material on a smaller scale. The FMP/SAJ catalogs are so rich, further long-term neglect should be deemed a cultural crime.
  10. Thanks for the heads up, the Kraak title "Hear Here Now" is downloadable in FLAC, nice! David, I do not know the name Peter Stubley. thanks, Dan
  11. I have most everything available on Amazon, really I would like to find his old vinyl issues on FMP/SAJ, and the fairly recent CDs on the WIM label. I just got "Lust" (WIM) this week off DMG's shelves; I was hooked before but I now realize he has a substantial and obscure catalog of work. I would bet there are more gems. Thanks for any leads etc. Dan
  12. Anthem of the Sun is their signature statement from the early days, every bit as much as the great Live Dead. Side 1 is beyond heaven, but then try on some of that Alligator, then get the revised (and that is crucial) From the Vault volume 2. From there, get Ladies and Gentlemen the GD ('71 Fillmore East), and then as much live '72 as you can afford and legally download/stream. '72 is the true live apex (imho), it consistently astounds according to the 30-40 or so great recordings that survive. Don't forget Ace and Garcia, two really nice "solo" sets that were in some ways excellent studio sets by the larger group. Have fun!
  13. So sad to see sales like this, if I read the implication correctly. I am right there too, my day is coming, watch this space. But my DeFranco and Nichols go with me, down with the ship.
  14. I recommend the Oxford Circle compilation disc that came out 7-8 yrs ago, they were an excellent Northern Cal. ballroom band.
  15. Fantastic! Newport '65 bonus disc from '63 reissue (Sony Legacy 2002) is a must. And in great, closely miked sound.
  16. Nothing to quantify here, but Max Roach, Roy Haynes, and Art Blakey each seems to have played with all the great mid to late 20th century players.
  17. Right you are, my error. Thus we should check carefully whether new Hat reissues represent meaningful sonic upgrades. Superficially, I would guess a lot of us prefer the old jewel case editions to their flimsy, coarse and ill-fitted cardboard.
  18. What year was your 24-bit remaster of Braxton's Santa Cruz reissued? (I have the 16-bit '97.) I see it on the upcoming list, didn't expect previous 24-bits to get re-done so soon. Thanks. Dan
  19. That Nonet caught my eye today on a search, mmmmm. Chuck there are two Oct-47 takes on Genius of Modern Music vol. 1. thanks
  20. I was surprised to find that besides the studio versions in '47, with Coltrane and later solo, this tune doesn't appear live on many Monk releases, and none that I own. I aim to change that. Any strong favorites here? Thanks, Dan
  21. I have wanted both at a decent price for a long while. The Shaw was ridiculous, best used find for me in a long time.
  22. Get it from Mundo, I did about six months ago.
  23. never/not enough: Cecil Taylor Jimmy Lyons Derek Bailey Frank Zappa Sam Rivers 58-64 Art Blakey Mulligan and CJB Woody Shaw Thad Jones, and TJ/ML Orch Richard Thompson 69-72 Grateful Dead Art Pepper
  24. more than before
