  1. Can anybody give me an online address where I can buy Mitsui CD-r's??? Most sellers in the US don't ship overseas (or agains outrageous prices). Thanks in advance, Reinier
  2. Apart from Lou Levy who has lost it a bit imo this is a great session. I didn't know it before this new Warner issue and it sounds fine (a bit 70's) but OK. A good mid price Warner issue and they are continuing this series so that's good news too. Cheers, Reinier
  3. The TOCJ of Ronnie Foster's Cheshire Cat went for $123.50 recently! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...5&category=1056 Partly thanks to me because it's the only CD in this series I couldn't get even when it was issued at the time (they made a really small number of copies of this one so it seems). So I thought with an auction sniper of $121 I'm safe.......not!!!! So I'll have to wait until it shows up again........... Cheers, Reinier
  4. Don't know who asked for the Art Blakey Roulette 70's sessions but this was on a double cd in Europe some years ago. I had it but sold it ages ago (didn't like it then). Cheers, Reinier
  5. If you're just looking for the Toshiko tracks: they are on the POCJ of Toshiko's Piano as bonus tracks. Cheers, Reinier
  6. I've just finished comparing the sound of the EU copy protected Passing Ships and The Flip against the US non copy protected ones and....... There's a sound difference too!! The US versions have more air around the instruments. The cymbals for instance have a far more realistic ring on the non copy protected disc's. So that's even worse imo. Michael C (who asked me to compare them in the first place) was affraid this was the case and will conduct his own survey in US studios to confirm my findings (or trash them because I'm only human too!!!). Keep you posted and all the best, Reinier
  7. I've encountered another problem with SACD's by the label Chandos. They give a very loud and nasty clicking/noisy sound at the end of the program. It's after the music is finished and much louder than the music was so the first time I encountered it my heart skipped some beats I can tell you. They say it has something to do with the Sony player and the manufacturing which is very strange because all the other SACD's I have don't have this problem. Anyway Chandos is working on it....... Keep you posted on this and cheers, Reinier
  8. Just to add some variety to the subject I have the old Thorens TD-165 of my father who doesn't use it anymore (don't know the difference with the 160). Hardly ever use it too..... Sony SCD-777ES Accuphase: E-503 B&W Nautilus 802's (no I'm not Greg, he has the Sony SCD-1!!!) Siltech G5 Signature cables for everything. As you can guess I'm happy with this and won't be buying anything for the next 10 years or so, although I've seen a nice cd player.......... Cheers and all the best, Reinier
  9. I guess he couldn't afford a lot of clothing yet!!!! Changed during his Verve time I'm sure. Cheers, Reinier PS I also have a Blakey's Jazz Messengers 45 from France and another Jimmy Smith with covers which aren't Blue Note US which are quit nice as well.
  10. How do we know they are 24 bit remastered? This isn't stated in the booklet. The Fathead Newman sounds good (for an Atlantic from 1959) but not great. Havn't heard the others yet. Cheers, Reinier
  11. Hello, I can't find the 2cd version of Rollins-Bridge on Amazon.fr. Any help would be great. I did find the Thomas/Jaspar disc. Cheers and thanks, Reinier
  12. I had the Japanese box but sold it. There's only one track not available elsewhere and it's not even a complete track!!!! The sound is good but not better than the Japanese 20 Bit Digital K2 version I already had. Hope this helps. Cheers, Reinier
  13. The whole music business faces tough times. They had to lay off 2 people so does that say enough??? Anyway as I said the bargain hunters won't agree with me and so be it. I just vented my personal feelings about this. Cheers, Reinier
  14. Late et al. the complete list is in the reissues folder but not by Hans. I believe Jason beat him this time!!! Cheers, Reinier
  15. Of course you can find it cheaper (or even used) if you look hard enough but the fact remains it doesn't support Mosaic. If you don't care about that and only want it the cheapest way go ahead but I do care and wish they will last especially under these tough times they're facing. And with the $5 per cd for customs there's no way you're gonna pay taxes on this set in Europe. But to each it's own....... Cheers, Reinier
  16. Yes, it's the complete edition with the alterations only in the numbering and sticker on the back of the box. The manufacturing plant may also be different. Cheers, Reinier PS as I've written elsewhere the set is cheaper if ordered directly from Mosaic and that supports them. If bought in Europe Mosaic get's nothing.
  17. Just got this new release mail from Mr. Tanno and it seems almost all the DeFranco/Clark material is going to be reissued in mini LP and 24 Bit: Universal UCCV 9121(Verve)New DeFranco,Buddy/Jazz Tones* 2345 Universal UCCV 9122(Verve)New DeFranco,Buddy/Autumn Leaves* 2345 Universal UCCV 9123(Verve)New DeFranco,Buddy/In A Mellow Mood* 2345 Universal UCCV 9124(Verve)New DeFranco,Buddy/Cookin' The Blues* 2345 Universal UCCV 9125(Verve)New DeFranco,Buddy/Sweet And Lovely* 2345 Cheers, Reinier
  18. When in doubt never ever let the Airborn express suckerss handle your affairs. Over here in the Nehterlands they are the worst carrier ever. I always use the USPS option with Mosaic and that works fine. Cheers, Reinier

I'm with Mike on this one. I have the cd and it's a great funky soul jazz session which reminds a little of BS&T as well. The whole series is very good (the first 5 are out now and they continue with 5 more the end of this month). Cheers, Reinier
  20. In the Netherlands the Mulligan set is already available through Universal. It's the same as the Mosaic but with another number on the side (so not the regular Mosaic MD4-221). The set also has a promo sticker on the back of the box with advertisement why you should buy the set!!! The set appears to be made in the USA and not in the EU as Michael C. told me. Anyway it's not cheaper than ordering it directly at Mosaic and...Mosaic doesn't get a penny from these sets so if you want to support them please order it directly. Cheers, Reinier
  21. I'm also a great fan of the serie. I have about 60 of them. Only one minor mistake in the reissue department who made them.....they should have included the original cover art somewhere inside the booklet. Great sound and nice photo's of 50-60's Paris so no complaint about that. I might be able to get the Broken Wing-Chet Baker from the store I work for if someone is interested in it. Mail me at bluebevervoorde@hotmail.com Cheers, Reinier
  22. Now for a change the US mini LP addicts have to buy the European versions of the LPR series because in Europe they continue to issue them as mini LP's while in the US the last two batches are digipacks!!! Long live Verve Europe!!!! Or is that a little too much. Cheers, Reinier
  23. Thanks for the confirmation Grey. And indeed I'm sort of a completist so I'm not going to stop looking for it. I have a CD-r and the LP so I know what is played and how. Cheers, Reinier
  24. OK here we go: 1) Kenny Cox (2-fer if possible or doubletime if not) 2) Frank Foster 3) Horace Silver & Wood , & Brass (2-fer if possible or doubletime if not) 4) Stanley Turrentine - Always Something there & Look of Love (2-fer if possible or doubletime if not) 5) Three Sounds and the Oliver Nelson Big Band (forgot the title) 6) Bobby Hutcherson - Head on etc....... Cheers, Reinier
  25. The Moody 1951 sides are (almost complete) issued on a BMG Disques Vogue CD called James Moddy & Frank Foster in Paris. The Quintet session is complete (8 tracks) and the with strings session all save 2 (?). The Foster Quartet session is from 1954 and also very good. The CD has number 09026-68208-2 and is of course long OOP but should be trackable somewhere (usually as a cut out). Cheers, Reinier
