Kenton Presents Set Going OOP
Bluerein replied to desertblues's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Wesbed: I guess you have the Collectables Rosolino? He sings a lot on that one. It's the Turn me Losse LP from 1961 on Reprise. Cheers, Reinier PS: I don't like his singing and didn't buy that cd because of it........ -
The location is Japan for the BNoffice buyer so this might be a dealer in Japan who has already sold it in Japan for 10 times the auction price!!!!! Cheers, Reinier

Same here Chuck!!! I've made an inquiery about this procedure at Fantasy some years ago and their reply was I should be glad they would reissue it at all!!!!! Which I am of course but would like to see the original LP's in complete form on CD (and if 2 on 1 doesnt fit please use 2 cd's). Cheers, Reinier The Henderson is great indeed (I don't have the box because I don't like the later stuff so this reissue is very welcomed by me).

Jodi: how do you know this and where can they be ordered???/ Amazon doesn't list them. Thanks, Reinier

The 2 excellent Grolnick cd's have been reissued too in the double time series (but oop again). How about the 2 Vince Mendoza (Capitol/Manhattan) releases? OK a bit fusionesque for the pure jazz fan maybe but I rate them amongst my top 20 cd's ever (for what that's worth). Cheers, Reinier

Yes it was reissued in Japan in 1997 as a 20 bit jewel case BVCJ-7415. Also not good sounding but indeed a great session. Cheers, Reinier

I meant with new Toshiba releases the newly recorded ones not the reissues so Hans you're correct as always. And indeed the other reason for buying US printed and manufactured cd's is NOT the CP thing but the pressing plant quality. Cheers, Reinier
-
The new Toshiba/EMI releases are already CP'ed in Japan. Cheers, Reinier

What's the matter with you Rockefeller??? Bad youth? I just stated my opinion and you can have your own. Just leave it like that and read my posting carefully before drawing your stupid conclusions. Cheers, Reinier

Surface mail option to Europe
Bluerein replied to Tony Pusey's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
6 weeks is normal but it can take longer depending on your country's customs import staff. Here in the Netherlands the delay by the customs can be upto 4 weeks as well....... Cheers, Reinier -
It's getting worse in EUrope....Fresh Sound New Talent new issues have the copy protection too. I was able to do a listening test with CD's from the same pressing plant with and without copy protection (coutesy of Michael Cuscuna) and I couldn't head any difference between them. I know the so called audiofools believe they do hear a difference but I don't (and believe me my system reveals a lot, so to speak, my Stax earphones too for that matter). The reason I did this test was I heard a big difference between the US printed Connoisseurs (Hill, Mobley) and their EU pressed (and copy protected) couterparts. I thought this was due to the copy protection but to be sure I needed copies of the same music from the same plant with and without the protection and MC arranged this from the UK devision of EMI. There are a few titles which are CP in mainland EU but not in the UK (don't know why) and those I got for the test. Van Morrison, Al Green, Cassandra Wilson and Dianne Reeves were the cd's. The funny thing is I thought the US pressed non CP cd's sounded much better than the CP EU discs. I always buy the US versions of Fantasy and BN cd's because of the better printed artwork but now there seems to be another reason to do so...... Cheers, Reinier

I have the Midnight Roll on a Japanese cd reissue and it's OK but nothing special imo. Cheers, Reinier

Hello all, is it my connection or are there more people who can't reach Hiroshi Tanno by email anymore. My emails are bounced and the web site (www.earlyrecords.com) doesn't work either. Please let me know so I can take measures. Cheers and thanks, Reinier
-
and......I will keep them all so no trunkload of Cartonsleeve this time, soory. Cheers, Reinier
-
Yes...... I'm afraid to let you know they are indeed the best sounding BN's from Japan ever. It's like taking away a blanket before your speakers without sounding edgy and hissy. I've only compared 2 (Dippin' & Moanin') but the results are the same with both. I did a ABC (TOCJ-4XXX vs TOCJ-9XXX vs TOCJ-64XX). (yes I have them all.......) Cheers, Reinier

Hello all, does anyone (Brownie?) know anything about this band/recording from Malagasy? There's a reissue in Japan with the title above but AMG doesn't list it and the Lord discography has the personel and dates but I'm curious about the music played. I hope someone knows this and can tell me all about it. Cheers and thanks, Reinier

The Bethlehem date appears to be issued on CD by Discovery and long OOP of course. It wasn't in the TOCJ reissues series by Toshiba. That makes me think Mosaic should have no problems with licencing this session if it is also under the TOSHIBA/EMI umbrella....... Cheers, Reinier

Mine is the same as Couw's so not so collectible after all...... a pity!!! Cheers, Reinier

Ben Webster: King of the Tenors (VERVE) Cheers, Reinier -
Who says there are going to be Rare Grooves at all this year???? Don't think so. But let's hope they can do a batch. Some Reuben Wilson would be great and some more Jack McDuff for sure. Cheers, Reinier
