  1. I buy CDs, put them on my computer so they can be transferred to Google Music Beta, and then stream them to my phone (listening through either Sony Bluetooth headphones or a Logitech Bluetooth speaker). However, whenever possible I much prefer to be parked in my chair, listening to CDs played on my stereo.
  2. I wonder if that has anything to do with visitors to that site coming mostly from a rock background? Just a guess....
  3. Right, but what I'm saying (and what everyone seems to miss when I say it) is that I really hope future releases aren't limited to strictly those concerts that were filmed. If it's a good show but there isn't video, so what, release it anyway.
  4. The video is interesting, but I doubt that I will watch the DVDs more than once or twice. I really hope that they are not limiting themselves to just concerts with associated video. Sure, include a DVD when appropriate, but don't pass over other shows/eras just because they were not filmed.
  5. Thanks everyone! I haven't been here too often recently (both kids in school now, and a dog that is more needy than any child) but it's good to know where to go for intelligent, thoughtful discussion of good music. I forgot that I put actual birth date in my profile, not just the month/day! Yep, 40...
  6. Happy birthday, Chris!
  7. I get off the bus at 1975. I've yet to hear anything after then that would interest me.
  8. If you must do download, at least make it FLAC. I buy physical media (mostly CDs, some vinyl). I only buy downloads when I am forced to, i.e. the Anthony Braxton subscription site, or the King Crimson live series, neither of which are offered in physical formats. And I am finding that I already forgot what I have downloaded! It helps to have a professionally pressed CD.
  9. ummm, no. Not quite. You might want to read up a bit on the history of inventors, innovators, etc.
  10. a whole industry? which one? I mean, take your pick- personal computers, music, mobile phones, you could even argue portable gaming devices with the iPod Touch, and now whatever industry the iPad has launched. And don't forget Pixar. His influence is vast and will be long lasting. One of the greatest American inventors/innovators, up there with Franklin and Edison.

    Anthony Braxton

The download is available now. I've enjoyed most of everything Braxton that I've come across so far, but I'm not sure I can handle an opera. I might be sitting this one out.
  12. happy birthday to the greatest goalie the Canadiens ever had! Just kidding, happy birthday KD!
  13. lots of weather chat here:
  14. This has to be the most cliched of them all. I cringe whenever I read it. The Hoffman board seems to particularly enjoy overusing it.
  15. Anyone else pick up the error in the notes? There's a reference made to Shorter's AUTObiography, "Footprints". Pretty sure he didn't write it.
  16. they should have done this in 96 when their drummer quit. They've sucked bad since then.
  17. Mine arrived today. However, I am in Seattle until Thursday, so I won't be able to hear it until then.
  18. I ordered it from Sony's store, didn't feel like cancelling it to re-pre-order from Amazon, so I paid a little extra, but it shipped yesterday. Normally I would have bought this with a coupon at Borders on release day...
  19. The history behind the shift from Art Ensemble to "- of Chicago" is on the front of the Nessa box set. Roscoe called it Art Ensemble; a promoter in France added the Chicago descriptor in 1969.
  20. I thought Clapton stopped caring around '71.
  21. Why change up the packaging at this point? I kind of like the digipaks for the mini-LP look of the earlier sets. I still have to get this one and the next one, though.
  22. They still make Blackberrys? There is an Android app for Google+. Probably an iPhone one too.
  23. that is all CHEW-EEZ.
  24. I can't get in. Guess I'm not part of the cool crowd. I thought they had shut it down to new members, even those with invitations, due to the flood of people trying to join? Has it opened back up?
