  1. Some craziness in the other direction: This morning I put in some bids on a few items that I have been looking at, as I am apt to do on an almost daily basis. I have some guidelines I follow as far as what I am willing to pay on anything so my success ratio on items like Mosaics is usually fairly low (like say maybe 10%). I go out to lunch and then to read in the park all Sunday afternoon, forgetting about it, so imagine my surprise when I got home and checked my inbox to see: Duke Ellington - The Complete Reprise Studio Recordings (5 cd) Like New, Mosaic Edition $30.99 V/A - The Atlantic New Orleans Jazz Session (4 cd) L/N Mosaic $39.77 Clifford Brown - Brownie: The Complete Emarcy (10 cd) New/Unwrapped $51.00 I'm wondering if I should go out and buy a lottery ticket or something.
  2. Wow, thanks for posting this... so much for my taking time off on new purchases. I managed to stop myself at the following, all at the $7 price. Albert Ayler - Music Is The Healing Force Of The Universe Dollar Brand - Duke Ellington Presents The Dollar Brand Trio Charles Earland - Black Talk! Duke Ellington - Latin American Suite Duke Ellington - The Afro-Eurasian Eclipse Duke Ellington - Ellington Uptown Duke Ellington - Masterpieces By Ellington Duke Ellington - Black, Brown And Beige Don Ellis - Electric Bath Booker Ervin - The Blues Book Yusef Lateef - The Sounds Of Yusef Yusef Lateef - Other Sounds Yusef Lateef - The Centaur And The Phoenix Yusef Lateef - Eastern Sounds Charles Mingus - Town Hall Concert Sonny Rollins - Way Out West Pee Wee Russell - Ask Me Now! Archie Shepp - The Cry Of My People Lennie Tristano - Lennie Tristano/The New Tristano There is an overwhelming amount of stuff here, I had to stop myself from clicking into all of the Art Peppers. I found that the following link was a good way to dig through the 2400+ discs on sale. http://www.jr.com/JRSectionView.process?Ns...8670+151&Ne=582
  3. Sent pm regarding the Evans box...
  4. I'm not sure if this helps but the ESP site has some information about upcoming reissues and a question/answer thread in the forum: http://espdisk.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=4 Also there appears to be where are they now/royalties type page. It seems like at least in the US they were doing their own cd-r prints for the past 6 months because their distribution contract had expired, and they are now starting to press their own discs again. I'm not sure if this applies to Europe though. I've just discovered Ms. Waters music recently actually. Good luck.
  5. To tell you the truth, I don't particularly remember reading anything about the items being pirated or not. I think what put me off were a bunch of the comments said that they didn't receive their items/it took six months and then the few positive feedbacks were so over the top that they raised suspicion.
  6. The Mosaic Select on their site have been at $11 for at least 6 months now because I remember seeing a bunch of them for the same price on that site last summer. After doing a little bit of research and noting that it is a Malaysian company I managed to dig up a bunch of very negative reviews on Google. I'm sure if it were a pricing mistake they would have changed by now so I can only assume that they are either pirated copies or some sort of credit card scam.
  7. For anyone is interested, I just spotted these on eBay. The prices seem fair for a few in-print Mosaics (all swing). I picked up the Django set from him for $65 shipped, and am not too interested in any of the others currently, but figured someone else might be.
  8. There is an interesting article including an interview with his father and other surviving family members in the Cleveland Plain Dealer this morning. A New Light
  9. In case anyone is interested.. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id...1&type=category About 25 to choose from, mostly RVG's. I added everything I didn't have already and upgraded a few others. Free shipping too. So much for my silly attempt not to spend any more money for the month.
