  4. Billy Bang -- Da Bang! This is a brand new posthumous CD release from TUM Records of a Billy Bang date from 2011. Still sealed. I somehow managed to buy two copies of this, so I'm offering a copy for $13 (US shipping included), which is below my cost. Thanks!
  5. Yep, it's the original, intact--sans vocals, last track clocks in at 13:20. Excellent!

    RIP Billy Bang

Absolutely crushed to hear this. I love his playing. He's got a ton of terrific recorded performances. RIP.

    Jazz noir?

First one that comes to mind is George Gruntz' Mental Cruelty (see my avatar), on CD from Atavistic. An obscure soundtrack album for a very obscure little film, it features Barney Wilen and Kenny Clarke in a quintet. Amazon link Jazz Loft Also, I like the I Want to Live soundtrack, which includes 6 septet performances led by Gerry Mulligan with Art Farmer. Amazon link
  10. Just picked up the Scott LaFaro Pieces of Jade, which features 5 very nice trio tracks with Don Friedman.
  11. PM'd re: Henri Crolla, “Le long des rues” (Gitanes/Universal) [2-CD set from Jazz in Paris series]
  12. If it's the same list, it's probably taken from the same source as mine---Mosaic/True Blue emailings over the past year. I haven't come across any other lists. I wonder which jazz pubs made mention of further deletions, or if they were referring to titles that were deleted already.

  14. Yes, I believe so. I've had queries from Europe. Yep, a good one. Strange that it hasn't been more widely available. I'm afraid I've been doing a little of that lately.
  15. Hate to part with these: Who's Crazy Art Ensemble 1967/68
  16. Hey Pete, the discs arrived today--thanks!

    Rare Blue Notes

I never heard of this having skipping problems. Mine works fine. And I have to say the 1995 version (Larry Walsh remastered) is easier to listen to than JRVG and the UK/RVG versions I heard.
  19. Thanks for bringing this back up!
  20. The Koch reissues of these sound perfectly good, and some of them are still easily available, I think. The Frank Strozier/Booker Little date was also included in the Mosaic set and is a must.
  21. I think I wrote Mosaic a few years ago with that suggestion. Don't remember their response. Definitely worth emailing them about it again. His three RCA albums wouldn't fit on a Mosaic Single and won't be enough to fill a three-disc Select.
