  1. Yea i agree ....but this is a post about showing a little respect for your neighbors , we were up at 8 this morning and never really sleep in. All i'm saying is can we have a little quiet on a Sunday morning , sit around read the paper , listen to some music wthout the constant concerto of buzzing lawn mowers ? i
  2. I have one neighbor that sends his kid out at night to do the lawn , the kid holds a flashlight while he mows!
  3. Well in the middle of the summer i will go 3 weeks without mowing the lawn , there is no need to it goes dormant . My lawn will stay greener because of it , these guys next to me are Fanatics.
  4. What is it with people mowing their lawns at 9:30 on a Sunday Morning ??? Last weekend it was 8:30 ...the neighbor to the left of us does his mowing and weed wacking on Saturday morning around 9-10 ;right now the guy to the right of us is doing his lawn at 9:45 on a Sunday morning . Don't people sleep in anymore ?

    Prince

The title track is cool with that middle part that sounds like it's straight out of a Free Design LP very sunshine pop sounding .

    Prince

i just downloaded "Planet Earth' (Princes new cd not the planet ) and i was pleasantly surprised . I thought his last release 3121 was awful but the new one has some great songs on it. "The one u wanna c" is great and "Chelsea Rodgers" is a full blown Disco track. There are tracks that have guitar but it's pretty much like all his albums a few ballads , rock songs etc.
  9. i dunno today on weei the baseball experts like Tony Maz feel the Sox are really underachieving and with games upcoming in Cleveland and a tough weekend series against the other sox the Red Sox really need a winning streak . Like maybe an 8-2 or 7-3 run something other than win one/ lose one .
  10. Went to Plymouth this afternoon and it was a chilly 73 degrees with the wind blowing off the water!
  11. I think J Larsen said made an interesting point in another thread a while back (too lazy to search the archives) -- even if intelligent life exists somewhere else in the cosmos, the relatively short life span of any given civilization means that contemporaneous existence with ours is much less probable. Guy Unforturnately I can't take credit for that little insight... that was Fermi. There is a very famous and VERY, VERY cheesy formula with about 12 free parameters called the Drake Equation for estimating the number of contemporaneous intelligent civilizations, taking into account their necessarily finite lifespans. In any event, the current methods are no good for distinguishing between intelligent societies and "unintelligent" life. I suspect that "unitelligent" life is fairly common, particularly given that DNA formation is known to be an energy minimizing process. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if it were found elsewhere in our own solar system (e.g. on Europa). I have found Unintelligent life to be very common ........
  12. Ah, pipe down; you still got one game left to salvage. Now, if we win that one, I may have a coronary. You and me both. Except that the Sox are asking the rookie, Gabbard, to be the stopper, when last time he handed the game to the M's on nothing but walks and HBPs. But, as they say, you never know what may happen. If the Sox do manage to win number 50 in the 81st game, that would put them on pace for a nice round number at the end of the season. The Sox should not have let go Papa Jack , the hitting coach they have now was let go by the Padres last year because they were hitting a combined 252 avaerage ??.......why would the Sox hire this guy ?
  13. Its the same seller from the auction in May at the top of this list ......i wonder how many copies this guy has?.
  14. It's the cd player i have a Denon player and the same thing happens when i play discs that are 70 min and longer. These same discs play clean when played on my walkman, car cd player and the cd player i have at the studio.
  15. You gotta figure his first three starts against NL teams he had to go 3-0 , they are paying this guy $28 million. Though that was his worst start out of the three.....

  20. Prince got me into jazz went to see Sign o the times movie and they did snippets of Take the A train and jammed on Nows the time. Plus his Madhouse albums were jazz-funk that led me into all the rare groove blue note cds......and on and on it goes.
  21. yes, they are distributed and i don't know if also manufactured by Universal. they carry their logo. just repressings of the old late 80s/early 90s OJCs though. but it looks like the full catalog has been repressed. to be honest i was quite surprised when i first saw them pop up. but isn't there another thread about that? and about hoarding: i've been on some mad shopping sprees myself chasing down what i saw as old, soon to be or already OOP titles in the past. but i've had nasty suprises, like seeing them pop up some time later or while still shrink wrapped in my back log. i'm much more careful now. and what's been recommended here is well worth having. no doubt. Count me as a skeptic about your claim. Amazon.fr, amazon.com and amazon.co.uk list Don Friedman's Metamorphosis and Charles McPherson's Con Alma as OOP. I imagine there are many other titles like this. Guy You're correct to be sceptic, Guy - it's by far not the whole catalogue that's been re-pressed, but many, many of more popular titles have been re-pressed indeed. I started the other thread. I've been trying to get Don Friedman's without much luck, other artists' albums (Teddy Edwards, Jimmy Heath, Byard, Frank Foster and many, many others) aren't readily available either... I'm still trying to hoard, but I've overdrawn my bank account and will have to stop for a while now... I just found Metamorphosis by Don Friedman at Newbury Comics for $5.99.......so you might wanna email them and see if they can track down a copy.

  24. Here is a quote from geoff Emericks book Here ,There and Everywhere......this should dispel the Mccartney is lightweight crap "And then there was the bass player, he was also clearly the most interested in how the recording sounded. Though he didnt raise his voice like the lead singer did, i had the distinct impression that he was the leader of the group. When he spoke, the others listened intently and invariably nodded their heads in agreement, and before each take,he was the one urging them on to give it their all. Looking back on it now , it's funny how most people thought of John Lennon as the leader of the Beatles. It might have been his band in the beginning, and he might have assumed the leadership role in their press conferences and public appearances. But throughout all the years i would work with them it always seemed to me that Paul McCartney , the soft spoken bass player, was the real leader of the group, and that nothing got done unless he approved it ."
  25. I think lyrically his last 3 albums have been anything but slight. He seems to be grappling with Linda and George dying and his own mortality. Especially chaos which seemed a little too downtrodden at times. I think he has put out a fantastic string of albums dating back to flaming pie in 97.
