  1. Hard to watch that Marcus Lattimore injury. So sad given his comeback from last year's injury. I'm afraid this one may be a career-ender, but I hope I'm wrong.
  2. Nothin like a nice Macintush apple.
  3. ......or are you just glad to see me?
  4. Wow, just unbelievable. Amazing.
  5. Sorry to hear of his passing. RIP. In the long time Mr. Thornton has been on this board he has proven to be a trusted and accurate resource and not given to acts of sensationalistic opportunism. Thanks for the info, Clifford. BTW, what is the correct pronunciation of "Tchicai"?
  6. A bit more than I care to pay at this time, unfortunately... Apparently there's different lsitings for this CD on Amazon, found one with much better prices here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000005HBD/ref=s9_simh_gw_p15_d0_i2?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=1CCNT5P0H5WTXRX0XMS7&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1389517282&pf_rd_i=507846 Gracias beaucoup, Paul! That's the one. Sorry, I should have included a link.
  7. Now that's a classic, I imagine I could find it somewhere but basically Welles was asked to deliver the line "In July" as "IN July," (as opposed to "In JULY,")and Welles really flips out because its totally unnatural to emphasize "in" in that sentence. IN July
  8. Bassist Jay Anderson did a record and called one of the tunes "IN July".
  9. .....needs more harmon mute solos.
  10. I started to appreciate opera when I used to go to Santa Fe in the summers (to visit my then-wife who played in the orchestra). I liked having the libretto displayed on screens on the seat backs so I could better follow along, but I also became aware of how painfully slowly the plot unfolded. I'm a big R. Strauss fan, his operas are probably my favorite. Great brass writing and "changes".
  11. I LOVE the Ruth Brown side, more than anything for the charts and the band's spirited performance. Sometime Thad's writing just cracks me up, it's so hip. EDIT: some used copies of the CD available on Amazon, Jim.....
  12. Rich Perry is an outstanding player. I'll second relyles' recommendations, specifically a couple Steeplechase sides he did under Harold Danko's name with Dick Oatts- they're called "Oatts and Perry" and "Oatts and Perry II". Great music!
  13. Try 'em mixed with dry roasted peanuts. Excellent, just like a salted nut roll.
  14. Another would be the eight bar vamp that's cued at the end of solos on Seven Steps to Heaven.
  15. One example that comes to mind is the interlude on Night in Tunisia. It's not a part of the form of the tune- it functions independently as a send-off for each soloist and has a built-in solo break.
  16. It's done. Real refs return for tomorrow night's game. Even after hearing the NFL's bullshit response about the Seattle/GB game I figured they realized they had to resolve this situation pronto, and (surprise surprise)they did. Now back to bitching about the REAL refs!
  17. What a coincidence, "Ice Cream VanJingles" is my blues name.
  18. I heard someone say that Russell Wilson was the first QB ever to throw a game winning interception.
  19. I'm about done watching until they get the refs back. Guys who have no idea what they're doing are determining the outcome of these games. What a joke.
  20. and...
  21. Chobani Lemon. Me likey. Black Cherry and Blood Orange too.
  22. Some crazy games today! USC and Michigan State go down.
  23. Am not. *plbbbt*
