Olie Brice------Trio/Octet Fire Hills-------(West Hill Records) New double CD from one of our number. Great sound from Alex Bonney. First spin of the trio disc suggests this'll be one to return to.

There is significant overlap with the Austrian CDs. Both the recent LP sets and the older CDs have sessions not present on the other as I recall. The sound of the LP sets from Wallen Bink is really good.

Sam Records curate some really fine releases. Very much looking forward to that

Not yet . The parcel doesn’t appear to passed through customs but I’m wary of celebrating as in the past I’ve received requests from the carrier (DHL as I recall) to pay up. Interestingly the declared value of the set was set at $150 whereas to date Mosaics have had a declared value of around $30. Despite Brexit it’s probably time to switch to Jazzmessengers for my mosaic sets. It’s a pity as I’ve always wanted to support Mosaic directly.

Mine arrived out of the blue this morning. I'd only heard yesterday that it was in transit (generic email from Fred apologising that tracking numbers wouldn't work). I'd not received any tracking number or any email from Mosaic confirming my purchase. I was pretty relaxed as things usually work out but Mosaic's system seems not to be working so well. Luckily Fred is quick to respond but I'd rather not bother him and risk appearing too paranoid about lost orders etc. Anyway enjoying disc one. I've a couple of B&W 78s somewhere but neither sound as good as the transfers here.

The 1968 set arrived a few days ago. Sound is excellent and CT seems on fine form. I'm not enough of an CT aficionado to know where it might sit in his solo oeuvre but I liked what I heard first time around.

I ended up getting the LP from an eBay seller a few weeks after release here in the UK for list price. It took ages to arrive and I was convinced it was a scam but a bona fide Tyler set arrived in immaculate condition. The music was all new to me and is just wonderful. The weird bits (Mary Parks) make sense when heard in the context of the concert program. Love it.

I think only Intervall was issued in his life time. The self titled album on EMI/Odeon was issued posthumously. His compositions were revived by a group call Sister Maj's Blouse - which has Joakim Milder on tenor sax, Bobo Stenson , Fredrik Noren and Palle Danielsson- two or three CDs were issued

I keep working strength solution of L'art du Son in the fridge because it has developed cloudiness in the past. I go through very slowly these days as I'm not buying much used vinyl so the fridge keeps the solution clear.

I didn't go for the '79 set but settled on the '73 as it got the nod in Jazzwize fwiw. Interestingly the CD version is around £55-60 on pre-order which makes 150 euros from JM seem very reasonable indeed. I for one rather hate the RSD effect of bouncing me into purchases without the chance to hear much in the way of samples prior to release day. It's obviously a business model which must work well for Resonance etc

Ayler is always interesting and the Fondation Maeght stuff is worth hearing even if it's uneven but this set was too pricey. Especially as I've already spent too much on darkroom equipment this month. I'm waiting on the CD edition as I picked up the Mingus and the Evans (73) on RSD from a local church.

I've been listening to a lot early-late Miles (i.e. 68-75) and I find it uniformly interesting. I'd agree that Big Fun and GIWI are bit random in their programming and coherence but I like them fine just as they are. OTC is astonishingly different and sounds advanced even for 2022. The only thing I'm less convinced by is the use of sitar on In Concert. I've not had that disc too long so it may gel yet. I'd be all over any Sony Bootleg edition from any of this period.

great bit of footage. I've had a soft spot for Lowe since seeing him play with Billy Bang, Sirone and Dennis Charles in the late 80s.

The Earle Spencer material is on Spotify (as reissued by Fresh Sound). I've hear enough B&W 78s to know that I'll be an interesting voyage of discovery for me.

Howard Riley-The Day will come—(CBS UK) Immaculate copy with no signs of play but with plenty of authentic groove noises in the way that CBS pressings of this era do so well

Spirits Rejoice ! - Albert Ayler and his message - Peter Niklas Wilson newly publish first edition in English. I believe this is the only biography of Ayler.

On a sort of related note Peter Niklas Wilson's Spirits Rejoice ! a biography of Albert Tyler is being translated into English from the German original. Hopefully later this year from the information I have.

Loving what I've listened to so far (discs 1 and 2) . Sound is very acceptable given the sources. This is a great archival release up there with the Benedetti and Savoury Mosaics.

I recall vacuuming up Murray and other Soul Note/Black Saint LPs for £2 from Fopp. These introduced me to the likes of Roscoe Mitchell, Frank Lowe etc

I bought this a few years ago. I was impressed with it and was glad I'd picked it up. That said I've not played it in a while...

Seriously good album from Mr Holman. I’ve got the CD but it sounds superb
