  1. You'll want to skip 2 tracks, but the other 6 of Lee Konitz Duets fit your criteria.
  2. I should have realized this would be worth picking up as Experience Hendrix was sneaky good with their previous CD single - a format I don't tend to think to buy very often. It's good to have a rockin' palette cleanser in-between all of the classical listening. (I'm doing the same thing though not quite as deeply as you are).
  3. Indeed! I've bought 5 of those from his past recs and J.A.W.'s too. I'm especially fond of the Elmore. And Hooker's Modern Recordings in Paul's next post. While the box route is fun don't rule out all of the 2 disc possibilities, or just using "box money" to buy a bunch of different individual artist albums.
  4. And the 2 disc complete blu-ray version is a wee bit less. Format agnostic folks should research if there are differences in content as far as extras and such.
  5. I went with the blu-ray audio for The Raven That Refused To Sing. Quite the attention grabbing introduction! The way it began reminded me a little of the riffing near the end of Townshend's "Rough Boys." Only one play thus far but there was more of an instant "I like it!" feeling than with Grace For Drowning (though I connected better with it after the release of the live blu-ray/dvd). Although I will admit that I ended up getting distracted away from the music for last 1/3 of it (stupid intrusions). I don't think JSngry dips into this proggy part of the pool but if he realized one could get a FSK 6 sticker by buying the Raven blu-ray Mr. Wilson would have himself a sale from an unexpected place.
  6. Hmm....I have The Kicker as part of the box set and it has its own special look. Here's a link to how the individual The Kicker used to look. http://jazzalbumcove...-1967-1990.html
  7. That's all I've had and that was about 10 years ago. Then the barber moved to a smaller town. Also it's much easier to shave a several day old beard with a single blade razor than a Fusion (or anything > 1 blade). A few years ago I followed GA's lead in the thread and bought some variety packs of blades to try and have since added some Feather as well. Since sometimes I let it grow I still haven't blown thru the variety pack.
  8. Are you sure that's not Bo Derek? So you at least occasionally glanced Bo's face in those wonderful movies of hers. It is a relief to get this clarified as it would have been one of the more startling plastic surgery brow lift - eye job etc. if that was Veronica.
  9. Yankee fans. Lefty Aussie middle reliever Graeme Lloyd got a couple of rings with them vs. ATL & SD. There's a wikipage about Aussies in the MLB.
  10. Now you've done it! Conn makes his appearance in the baseball thread this July!
  11. I tried "science" by testing a few entries in a writing sample analyzer. http://sarahktyler.c...ode/sample.php. After 2 cut & pastes I thought probably not but a third try was closer to the entry that's causing confusion (I used samples where you were reviewing music in 5 sentences or less). Between only using 3 samples and the questionable nature of the function machine who knows. In the end what Jim said in post 2 seems about right, and I lean towards it might not be you.
  12. Me too! I once got lucky at a flea market and was able to pick up discs 4-6 for $12 or something silly. Some fine music there.
  13. I really don't get these seven-year contracts for any position...let alone a pitcher. You're pushing your luck at 5-years. Has there really even been one that didn't turn out to be a disaster in the long run? Ack! A couple of the best signings I could think of off the top of my head (and then looking up the contract) were Maddux by the Braves and Reggie by the Yankees. Both were 5 year deals though. Barry Bonds was signed for 6 by the Giants when he joined them so they got their money's worth there. But 7 years...for a pitcher? I suppose the comforting thought is that longterm big ass deals don't seem to make trades impossible. To change the mood back to springtime bliss, by jove Felix will anchor a staff of young up & coming pitchers, Jesus will rise to Johnny Bench levels (with the LF fence moved in), Jason Bay will rediscover his Pittsburgh years mojo and the M's will have the deepest outfield in the AL. Ackley rebounds from the sophomore slump, Seager heads towards early prime production and the M's shock the West! Gotta love the hope around spring training. *Edit - The Cards signed Pujols to 7 years in 2004. He was only 24 when the deal was signed. Brilliant! As Blue Train mentions, it's very hard to find long term deals that have proven to be wise investments. In the NBA the Spurs had a now expired 7 year deal with Tim Duncan which worked well for both parties.
  14. Yeah....boy...See I was never eager to give him up for Clay "Not In The Same Ballpark" Buchholz (however you spell his ill ass name) yet I also understand that the M's situation is so fucking dire that if you could get 2.5 useful young somethings for him you should cause they're still still gonna finish no better than 3rd anyway for fucking years, but... He has had a workload. Yet modern surgery can possibly repair his elbow and he could (on a team that wins - not the M's) post surgery proceed on a path that wins 300 games since he started so young. Excuse me as I've recently discovered plum brandy (Hungarian, and it's nice for wintertime and I salute Hungarians for putting generally useless fruit to good use) but I'm semi-relived that the M's aren't going to throw 780 million (I made that up) at Felix for 35 years (that too) and instead will sit on the 2 years left on his contract. I mean if cable goes a la carte like some think it might why the holy hell do you want to sign a pitcher (no matter how awesome) up for many years for the GNP of Luxembourg.
  15. I appreciate the mention, if nothing more than to revisit the Moncur III Mosaic Select and thinking of the music there with what you've mentioned which I didn't realize until you did. Thanks!
  16. Mine had one of those too on the outer cellophane. The easily removable (I haven't, but I can tell it is) FSK sticker is on the cover itself.* Most folks here seem to be more turned on by the FSK sticker than the Lost Band one so I forgot about the other. I'm thinking of making my own FSK stickers for domestic issues I buy. To return to the music, repeating what's mentioned above the DVD is an upgrade from the bootleg version. (Away from the music) other options for posing the FSK Miles include an Oregonian with the '87 stock market crash and I might know where a Truman Dies At 88 Chicago Tribune is. (I've recently been moving stuff around in storage and have come across "stuff.") *Should have read ahead a the King handled this. Imagine living somewhere where these glorious stickers are normal.
  17. I'm much much more likely to play Horizontal (or 1st, or Idea) than Sgt. Pepper's at this stage (which even as a kid I thought had some holes). I regret not knowing the album earlier in life but I've made up for it in playing time since the terrific reissues of '06.
  18. There's some weirdness in September with the new method of schedule making. Boston's 2nd-to-last series is against Colorado at Coors for 2 games. They finish the season at Baltimore. Inter-league play is scattered around all year but it looks very strange when it happens so late in the season. The Yankees finish the season with a 3 game stand at Houston. (Houston is now in the AL West). They also host the Giants on the weekend before the end of the season. The Tigers end their season with 3 games in Miami vs. the Marlins.
  19. I'll meet you halfway.
  20. Jim, I ordered mine from Germany and I got no stickers.. I was even thinking when I saw your post to rip them off the package and mail them to you, but no stickers on the package at all. Could be the stickers are only put on for a package sent inside Europe. You should return it and get another. It's defective. It's totally worth the wait.
  21. Yoinks! Well that's surprise. The kid from The Bad News Bears is all grown up.
  22. Me too! Now folks, let's remember this release is rated FSK 0, so let's try to keep the conversation suitable just in case any infants are viewing this thread while listening to the discs.
  23. Minnesota was looking promising before the season started. Then Kevin Love decided to do fancy push ups and broke his hand. Rubio was already out to start the season. Brandon Roy of course was beat up to begin and lasted all of 5 games. Love came back for 20 games but was shooting horribly due to the hand which he either broke again or it never was properly healed (I'm not sure which). So much for being a playoff team. Of course Minnesota doesn't make news like LA.
  24. I hope someday they release* San Diego 11/14/73, or at least the second set: Truckin'>Other One>Big River>Other One>Eyes>Other One>Wharf Rat. It really is as good as it looks too. *I suppose ultimately it doesn't matter much as what circulates sounds great, but Dead official releases have sort of replaced the baseball hall of fame as far as debating interests. While it has a great setlist, why on earth was 10/19/73 released before/instead of..., that kind of thing.
  25. The longer trip nowadays to the west coast (once upon a time these were just driven north 430 miles) means that jiggle & jangle loosens them up a little so mine didn't have that scary "clamp of death." I love this period so much I've owned the whole month except the 1st for ages, and no surprise they did a fine job with this official release. The 3 Playing sandwiches are now all released. Yum.
