Fair enough, but give an average QB all of that and he’ll look really good. And to be honest, there aren’t many WR triplets better than Kupp/Cooks/Woods in the NFL. I thought the contract they gave Cooks was insanity, too. And you are right, no Kupp and an obviously not 100% Gurley was a HUGE downgrade for the Rams overall. I’m not saying Goff can’t turn into a really good QB, I’m just not convinced that he will. Statistically he had a great season, but something is just...missing.

I’m not sold on Goff. Never have been. I’ve just never seen anything special from him. Average mechanics, footwork, and arm strength.

Kevin, that was an excellent analysis, but I have to add that only one ball in that game was below the minimum inflation. Now, every ball in a cold weather game CAN be below the mandated PSI for scientific reasons, but in that case 11 of 12 were fine. That said, you are absolutely correct in pointing out exactly why a QB using an under-inflated ball would actually be counterproductive. Something most casual fans dutifully ignored. A potentially correct Freudian slip. And BTW, something interesting I noted during the game was that even though the Patriots blitzed, a LOT, they seemed to be employing a scheme that was made popular by Tom Landry and the Doomsday Defense. They were not bull rushing to get to the QB as much as they were blitzing to set up in the passing windows so that Goff couldn’t spot his receivers. I thought that was pretty genius! Blind QB + confusing zone defense = bad day.

So how about this. Since I could post nothing more than "I like pie" and you'd fly into a fit of rage, why not we just both avoid each other and leave each other the fuck alone? Fair enough?

Gotta love the fact that I made no personal attacks here, then you intentionally make it personal against me, only to have your little childish friends pop out of the woodwork to join in the demonization!

And SS1 is ALWAYS in whine like a little bitch about Scott D/only post when the Browns win mode.

It’s the difference between a casual fan and a hardcore fan. Simple as that. Enjoy your Tagliabue/Goodell-driven offense only league. I’ll stick with game planning on both sides of the ball. But, if you want to dive into tactics, feel free. I’m certainly game to breaking down what happened on Sunday. Best wishes.

Let’s agree to this term if we can: ”A lot” is unquantifiable, as is “half brain dead”. That said, I have to wonder how your comment pertains to the discussion at hand. I mean, I get exactly what you mean rhetorically, but why? What part of this conversation shouldn’t you care about? For example: if a skydiver’s parachute doesn’t open and they die, so what? That’s it? No room for common human empathy?

Jason McCourty or Stephon Gilmore should have been the MVP. Or even co-MVPs. But as we've seen in this thread, defense is meaningless in the minds of most in this modern age. ??? So because they made a conscious decision to both follow their passion, and entertain millions, FOR millions, we shouldn't care about their long-term health? Surely you can't be serious? This. Though I suppose a fair counter-argument would be "recovery time", which actually is a legitimate argument. But, yeah. Your point is valid. He wasn't running free in the secondary because he tested positive for PEDs a year ago... Exactly. Every word of that. It's akin to disparaging hitters in baseball for PEDs. Yeah, because NONE of the pitchers they faced were using, right? Spit, Vasoline, nail files, etc. So hey, why not add a little juice...

Please don't misunderstand me, I said one of twelve was below the legal minimum. Nothing more, nothing less. So the statement is actually correct. As long as Belichick and Brady are in New England and winning, they will be known to most as cheaters, with Spygate and Deflategate being the reasons why. Because, you know...those two almost nonexistent scandals explains the nine Super Bowl appearances. It's telling that as a species we are usually very mistrusting or dismissive of excellence.
-
Yeah, Goodell being the prosecutor, judge, jury, and appeals judge doesn't lend itself to a very fair system. And let's not forget that Brady served a suspension last year for ONE of the 12 Patriots balls being below the legal minimum inflation. Absolutely ridiculous.
-
Yep, that settles it. The AP is the authority when it comes to football. And let’s not go down the other laughably amateur road of playing the “cheaters” card, OK? https://yourteamcheats.com/

My favorite line was a lady that posted under a picture of that dude with his shirt off that he looked like a piece of Silly Putty that had just been pulled off of a newspaper. And BTW, Dave. Tell me all about the unimaginative offenses of L.A., KC, and L.A. that made the Patriots defense look extraordinary. For clarity sake, those offenses ranked 11th, 1st, and 2nd in the NFL. Basically what you’re saying is what anyone unfamiliar with the game would say. You don’t understand defense and game planning, so therefore if the offense doesn’t score, it’s 100% on the offense, which is laughable nonsense.

Sorry, that's a heap of horseshit. The game was technically amazing and incredibly well-played. Defense just happened to win the day, and thank goodness, since I thought it was officially dead. Just because most people that watch it aren't actual NFL fans, nor do they understand how the game operates, especially defensively, who cares? They can all fuck off, because this isn't their game. Also, while I usually couldn't care less about Super Bowl commercials, I will admit that this years's crop was the best seen in many years. The T Mobile texting commercials were hilarious. Especially the eggplant parmesan spot. There have only been three great Super Bowl halftime shows in my lifetime. Michael Jackson, Prince, and Bruno Mars. The one last night I only saw bits and pieces of. But it certainly seemed as bad as most of the others.

She was slightly behind the beat at several points. I told my wife that her earpiece must have not been working. She did a great job nonetheless.

You know, I honestly can’t say that it wasn’t, but I don’t recall that being the rule. I know college rules were like that.
-
Yeah, if it is that much more common, it certainly would be a deal breaker. Spotify and Apple Music have similar catalogs from what I’ve noticed, and been told by Spotify users. Those two have such a head start on the competition they likely never catch up.
-
What was the old rule? I’ve been watching the NFL since 1978. As far as I remember, the old rule was from the two minute warning in both half’s. They only changed it to five minutes in the fourth quarter. But nothing changed with the two minute warnings. No, he doesn’t. But he also doesn’t deserve to be made fun of. Addiction is a horrendous disease.
-
The clock doesn't start until the snap of the ball inside of 2 minutes in the first half, and inside of 5 minutes in the second half. I didn't notice them run the clock under two minutes, but if they did, it was incorrect clock management.
-
One of the reasons the NFL has really gone downhill to me is tied into the two statements above. That was most definitely NOT a boring game! That was one of the best defensive struggles I've seen in many years.

Bizarre! -
I’ve also seen that rare occasions on Apple Music. Certainly not a deal breaker at $10 a month, though. Yeah, I’d check out the Unlimited service. I believe Apple Music still offers their three month free trial, as well.

You don’t like Sun Ship and First Meditations? Wow, those are two of my favorite Jazz albums of all time. -
Is that their streaming service? I will say that I use Apple Music, and you’d be shocked at their selection of Jazz, Free Improv, and Classical. If Amazon is anything like that I guarantee you’ll be pleased.
