  1. Been on a The Necks bender. Ever since Cappz turned me onto them, they’ve become my go to experimental group. Kind of like a sonic comfort food.
  2. Kevin, check out the PSB M4U-1 on Amazon. They are superior sonically, and going for a mind blowing price right now.
  3. Yeah, my current main set of headphones sound better than those, but are nowhere near as comfortable. The difference is fairly extreme.
  4. I had the previous model, 595, and they were outstanding. They were $300 new. Looks like a really good deal, IMO. The most comfortable fitting headphones I’ve ever owned.
  5. Georgia was in the lead 118 minutes of the last 120 minutes they’ve played Alabama.
  6. It is.
  7. Yes, but what is your stance on the current legal status of CBD?
  8. Should start another thread and move all of these posts there. GA is gonna shit when he logs back in later...
  9. Neither have I. And hell, I was never a stoner, nor even that big of a fan of marijuana back when I smoked it as a teenager. And of course, Cannibidiol wasn't even a thing back then. But now I'm a staunch advocate for both marijuana and hemp for medical use. Which can be tricky considering where I work. Even my home state passed medical marijuana last month, and our disgraced Governor signed a bill legalizing hemp on his way out a few months ago. Most experts have Missouri going full adult use in 2022. So federal can't be too far behind. And all of this is incredibly important because making it federally legal will open up the door for studying it for medicinal properties and applications galore. Because right now federal funding to study it is all but nonexistent, which is why its medicinal value is so relatively unknown. At least it was a promising sign when the FDA approved Epidiolex for the U.S. market to treat epilepsy, forcing the DEA to reschedule to Schedule 5. In expected underhanded fashion, they left all other CBD a Schedule 1, but baby steps, I guess.
  10. That’s exactly what we all thought. It was a terrible exercise in laziness on their part, due mainly to how many conflicting opinions existed as to whether or not the 2014 farm bill made CBD derived from hemp legal already. Problem is, three years later it is still a Schedule 1 substance, and nobody in the industry seemed to notice or care. They notice and care a whole hell of a lot now since the ruling. Of course, to be fair to the association, both federal and state law enforcement have been so apathetic to enforce the laws (outside of a few store raids in a few states) they probably thought it was all but a done deal since they already sell and ship nationwide. Laziness, nonetheless.
  11. Yeah, the DEA clarified last year that Cannabidiol is indeed a Schedule 1 controlled substance according to the Controlled Substances Act of 1970 after warning the industry and giving them a chance to offer evidence that it should be reclassified, or even removed from scheduling. The industry and their representatives obviously didn’t take them serious, citing hemp legalization in the 2014 farm bill. Flash forward a few months, the DEA makes the clarification official, and the industry shit their pants and teams up with the cannabis law firm, Hoban Law Group, and filed a challenge in California. It’s legal in the 10 legal adult use states, legal only with a medical card in 21 other states, completely outlawed in 4, and rest have no state law so they revert to federal law. It ain’t Jazz, but the current cannabis battleground in the U.S. is a hell of a lot of fun to be a part of these days!
  12. Cannabidiol, the other main cannabinoid found in Cannabis (THC being the other). CBD is the more medicinal, non psychoactive cannabinoid. I have been using it for almost a year now to treat anxiety (which I never realized I had!). Right now CBD oil is one of the hottest medicinal products in the world. Used to treat a whole host of medical conditions without getting high. Still federally illegal (as recently ruled on by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in April in the Hemp Industries Association v DEA case), and illegal in many states. But, it’s in a very complex legal grey area, and easily purchased online, and in many stores, even in technically illegal states. I could fill an entire page, but I’ll leave it at that. If you want more info, just ask.
  13. Um, yeah. I like GA as much as anyone else. But a little transparency would be in order, don’t you think? If he’s making even an insignificant amount of coin, I’d have no issue with it, but a little heads up would be the right way to go about this.
  14. Gotcha. I’m deep into the world of CBD, a market that is somewhat overrun with affiliates and MLM’s. So I usually have a good sniffer for those kinds of things. I’m just completely unfamiliar with what to look for on Amazon. So if it has ?tag=., that’s an affiliate link?
  15. Yeah, and SACD kind of died a quick, and almost thorough death after the AES exposed it through their blind testing. The only reason it still exists as a ghost of itself is that some Classical labels release their albums in SACD format only.
  16. I'm assuming they meant the "MQA" offerings on Tidal, which are at the laughable 24/96. Numbers that awe the unsuspecting. As for HDTracks, and other such nonsense, if they are remastered, sure, they may sound a little different. But, they'd sound exactly the same if they were mixed down to 16/44.1, which already gives us more dynamic range than any recording known to exists contains (96dB), and a maximum frequency of 22.5kHz. Not only well beyond the range of human hearing, but also about 6kHz higher than frequencies produced by any musical instrument, the highest of which roll off sharply after 16kHz. The problem is that audio hucksters use the word "resolution" to describe this bullshit, which simply isn't true. Not even a little. I've had so many people tell me that "hi-res" is "filling in the gaps" left by the lower sampling rate of 44.1, which is so completely wrong that it's staggering that I still hear it regularly. This is all about a dying industry cheating people.
  17. This thread gets more confusing as it goes along. GA isn’t trying to make money here.
  18. Just posted in the Bullshit Audio group on FB. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cnbc.com/amp/2016/08/05/hifi-music-streaming-services-people-cant-tell-it-when-they-hear-it.html Still amazes me at how successful marketing departments have been at selling the “hi res” bullshit to the masses.
  19. I missed a lot of it due to falling asleep. Woke up just in time to see the game winning FG. Good! I just want this current iteration of the Steelers to go away. Same with the Packers.
  20. Not just women.
  21. I think I may not have gotten my point across properly. You mentioned he’ll be poison and that “these guys” never learn. IMO, that is a very unfair assessment based on a single known transgression. From the ages of 13-21, I was either locked up, or on probation. 100% fact. I even turned 18 in a state prison in Florida. Now, I never committed a violent crime, but I also regularly heard that I would never learn/change. That life for me ended 27 years ago, and I’ve been a law abiding citizen ever since. People can, and do, learn.
  22. Live in Divadlo 29 - Liudas Mockunas/Rafal Mazur/Raymond Strid Brilliant, brilliant stuff! A hybrid of Free Jazz, and Free Improv. Between melody, and total freedom. This may be the first time I’ve ever heard a group make those two somewhat disparate worlds work perfectly together.
  23. Listened to Tales Out Of Time by Brotzmann/McPhee/Kessler/Zerang this morning. A really sublime effort, and mostly conservative throughout. Oddly enough, Brotz sounded more like David S. Ware on this outing. Good stuff.
  24. Well, let’s be fair here. He’s young, and as far as I know has no history to suggest this is a habitual behavior.
  25. Unfortunately, we knew this was coming since the offseason when the brief video of him talking to the police after this incident came out. Upside for the Chiefs is that they have an excellent plan B to take his place.
