  1. I'll second that. Banning art, crap, craft, whatever we've decided this to be is a potentially slippery slope I simply do not care to step onto. Consider this: if we get to the point of subjective interpretation of an artists lyrics, THEN assign those judgements written in stone in order to ban the song, what's to stop the next group that says, "hey, you know that Miles Davis cat was really abusive to women, so we should remove his music and legacy from the face of the planet in order to guard the feelings of all those women out there that have been abused!" Sorry, gents. Not opening THAT door.
  2. That's unbelievably dirt cheap for a planar, but I see they have had some pretty poor reviews.
  3. Eh, nastygrams aren’t as bad as you’d think. Trust me, I’m an expert in the field.
  4. Weird! Speakers with aux jacks? I had no idea those even existed.
  5. I think you have the power to delete it if you are the OP.
  6. This conversation is going downhill in epic fashion.
  7. That drummer is loving life!
  8. I made a playlist of the album that is on simply so that I could delete it from the rest of the album. Hey, no judgement on two fine artists, but the song is rather boring. Even those two couldn’t inject any meaningful zest into it.
  9. Is it truly political, or is it cultural/societal? Honest question. I feel it’s more the latter. A cultural awakening or maturing? I mean, cultural/societal evolution isn’t necessarily political, is it?
  10. I can't imagine how a specific gender running government would be a difference maker. How about simply better people running government?
  11. Sure he was. His name has been dropped multiple times in Rock tunes.
  12. Good god, the Steelers just refuse to go the fuck away...
  13. All this hoopla over a song that really isn’t very good to begin with.
  14. I’m hoping this is simply sarcasm. As for the rest of the conversation, I’m with Jim when it comes to Jethro Tull. I respect them, I just don’t get them. Talented, but I find their music rather boring. But, what seems to be going on is that we have some Prog Rock fans here miffed that their favorite artists haven’t been inducted. One thing I’ve learned about Prog fans is that they are militantly passionate about their music, yet lack the perspective that Prog was never really that popular, and for good reason, IMO. Yes broke through, but even Genesis had to turn to Pop to find any true level of success. While I can listen to and appreciate Prog, it’s really rather mundane music that has a limited, but hardcore, following. So it’s really no surprise that few Prog bands are in the HoF.
  15. Aggie87 speaks the truth.
  16. Agreed. That’s what I was getting at.
  17. Um, the Zombies over anybody is truly WTF?! Now, while I respectfully admire Jethro Tull, I’m certainly not what you’d consider a fan. But if I had to choose between them and the Zombies? It’d be as fair of a fight as it would be between Coltrane and Kenny G.
  18. Whether you liked them or not, they fit all the criteria Brad posted above. Def Leppard, for example, wrote, arguably, the best Pop Metal ever.
  19. That cat has one of the worst presentations ever. I had to bail about seven minutes in. That said, I agree with Simon’s take.
  20. Janet was huge in the late 80’s/early 90’s, so I can see it. Def Leppard was fucking HUGE in the 80’s, so I can see that, too. The Zombies thing confound me as well. Might as well put Rob Zombie in...
  21. Hope it’s a great B-Day for you, brother!
  22. I thought the Bears would be pretty good this year, but have to admit that they're exceeding my expectations.
  23. The Broncos are inconsistent. But they just came off of back to back weeks where they beat the Chargers and Steelers. Do not underestimate them.
