I attended the Wednesday night concert at The Falcon in Marlboro, NY with a non-jazz familiar, blues loving, friend. Friend dug the entire group and especially the guitarist. I enjoyed all three members of the band. About 1 3/4 hour show non-stop. Wonderful music. Funny, before the show the club owner was not sure what to expect. After one tune he was extolling the musicianship!!!!!! Jim-what was the one-hit pop wonder you played?- Oooh Baby?

World Class Musicians Invade Hudson Valley; Four Concerts October 7-10 Offer Intimate Setting to Hear MacArthur ‘Genius’ Vijay Iyer, Tony Malaby, Peter Apfelbaum, Jason Hwang, Cyro Baptista and Many More September 30, 2013 – Over a dozen world-class musicians, including just-named MacArthur “Genius” Fellow Vijay Iyer, are participating in four concerts Monday, October 7 through Thursday October 10 at the Full Moon Resort in Big Indian, NY. The musicians are taking part in the Creative Music Studio’s Fall Workshop and will offer concerts there each night at 8:00 pm, in the Roadhouse, an intimate setting to see artists who often play large concert halls. A donation of $20 to CMS will be required at the door. A highly successful four-day workshop in May at the Full Moon Resort, featuring Oliver Lake, Dave Douglas, John Medeski, Don Byron and many more re-ignited CMS and its nonprofit parent, the Creative Music Foundation. Positive feedback from that workshop prompted CMS to offer another workshop during the height of autumn when the Catskill leaves are most colorful. The CMS Fall Workshop concert line up is: Monday, October 7: Bassist Mark Helias and his trio featuring reedist Tony Malaby and drummer Tom Rainey. They will be joined by CMF co-founders Karl Berger (vibes, piano) and singer/poet Ingrid Sertso, as well as Brazilian percussionist Cyro Baptista, reedist Peter Apfelbaum and singer Tom Buckner. Tuesday, October 8: Trumpeter Kirk Knuffke, guitarist Kenny Wessel, flute/reedist Steve Gorn, drummer Harvey Sorgen, Mexican guitarist Omar Tamez, and bassist John Menegon join Peter Apfelbaum, Tom Buckner, Karl Berger and Ingrid Sertso. Wednesday, October 9: Kirk Knuffke, Kenny Wessel, Harvey Sorgen, Omar Tamez, John Menegon, Karl Berger and Ingrid Sertso. Thursday, October 10: Pianist/composer Vijay Iyer, violist Jason Hwang, Harvey Sorgen, Omar Tamez, John Menegon, Karl Berger and Ingrid Sertso. The CMS 40th Anniversary Workshop will feature four days of intensive workshops, master classes, concerts and informal jam sessions that inspire deep listening, personal expression, improvisation and musical exploration. Musicians of any instrument, including voice, are welcome as are non-musicians. Adults who played music earlier in their lives can benefit from this lifelong learning opportunity that offers participants a once-in-a-lifetime experience to learn from and play with music masters, and to simply spend time with them in an informal, personal setting. The Creative Music Foundation, a 501C(3) nonprofit corporation, makes it possible to profoundly experience and express our deep connection with the transforming energies of music, our universal language. CMF programs focus on the common elements of all music, emphasizing keen awareness, personal expression, intensive listening and cross-cultural communication, and providing unique opportunities for musicians, students and listeners from different backgrounds and traditions to explore together, share, develop, and broaden their musical understanding and sensitivity. CMF pursues its mission through workshops, residencies, coaching, concerts, recordings and archival projects that engage both listeners and musicians in the USA and around the world. # # #

Black Saint/Soul Note Box Sets
cliffpeterson replied to romualdo's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
the vendor site mention in post 578 has the photos of the front of the boxes. So you can read the albums included in each box. At the moment, the bley box does not include maslak's "not to be a star". But, the bley includes the "giuffre" - "conversations with a goose". and "memoirs" co-led with haden and motian -
I ordered quite a few last year at different times. Clean Feed does typically sent 4 -5 jewel case issues together. More if slim cardboard packaing. They made a couple mistakes but alwas took care of them. My first order was of 11 cds. Came in two packages that just happened to come in two packages. Took about 10 days from date of order to arrive in upper state new york

Dennis Franz actually played two different characters at least one season apart. A great show.

LF/ Jerry Bergonzi Standard Gonz and Lineage
cliffpeterson replied to Jazztropic's topic in Offering and Looking For...
By the $35 you are referring to the Standard Gonz. It is a really good date that I do not see that much on Ebay or in the used stores. As for Lineage, all of the cds on the Italian Red Label are out of print. The label's website is not up to date. That said, Jazzloft has a bunch of Red label issues for sale including Lineage. Having just bought some of this label from Jazzloft-you can't assume that it has the cd in stock even if it shows on their website. -
Black Saint/Soul Note Box Sets
cliffpeterson replied to romualdo's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
amazon.uk would charge me 3.08 pounds for shipping to my house for the douglas set. total cost for the douglas would be $37.46. if I were to buy all five new box sets, shipping would be 7.08 pounds in total from amazon.uk. My total cost from amazon.uk for the five sets including shipping would be $184.30. But, if I were to place the exact same order with amazon.fr it would cost me $165.75 including shipping. -

so much for doing things from memory!!!!!!!!! seriously, buying in quantity is advantageous as Lon demonstrated. Consider grouping your purchases with people you know in your area. in effect, create an informal buying group. -
Black Saint/Soul Note Box Sets
cliffpeterson replied to romualdo's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
If I may presume to answer the question directed to Lon. The 21,46 euros is not the real cost for the set shipped to the us. At least amazon.fr and amazon.uk have VATs built into the initial price that you see. That price is not adjusted until further along in the ordering process when you identify that you want the item shipped to the U.S. Then the price of the box is adjusted. In this case, down to 17.94. But, then you have shipping. For this one box, that shipping cost will be 8.50 euros delivered to my house in New York. My total cost for the Douglas box set is 26.44 euros or $35.67 converted by amazon.fr. Or about $7.00 per disc. However, unlike amazon.com, the foreign amazon sites will give you lower shipping costs for combined purchases. Therefore, if you were to buy more of these black saint sets at one time, you will lower your per disc cost to perhaps $6.00 or even lower. -
BNLA Series, more 999 Yen reissues from EMI Japan
cliffpeterson replied to Daniel A's topic in Re-issues
you can order them from cdjapan.com. if you buy a few, the delivered price will be less than you can get them from other sources -
Attended the first concert of Allison's latest project. Included Ted Nash on tenor and Steve Cardenas on guitar. In the future they will have a drummer. Playing off charts and the set list was somewhat adhoc. But it was till great. In addition to hall originals, they did two giuffre tunes including "train and the river" How may opportunities do you get to hear that last piece played live? It was fun and great music. Would attend another such concert further down the road.

Did anybody who placed orders with clean feed from their inventory sale receive acknowledgments of their order(s) and/or shipping notice(s)? If so, what was the time delay between placing the order and receiving the acknowledgement?
