Carville: Yes I have read that also. Based on my understanding of who is to collect customs fees and when those fees are to be collected, I would wonder about the authenticity of both a bill for such fees and the company seeing payment.

Carville: no I did not get a bill. I find it odd that a shipper would contact the buyer after the items have cleared the customs house to attempt to collect a tariff or tax. My understanding is that an item cannot clear the customs house without payment if said payment is required. I think that CDJapan stated somewhere that it calculates and includes an amount for the tariff but I have not see any evidence of that. It does charge a flat 1300 yen fee for customs clearance or handling. One of those last two shipments I mention above was for 7 cds. My last shipment before the tariffs was for 7 cds. Notably, there was only about a 300 yen difference in the respective shipping costs.

Regarding Saturday, Its a toss up for me between the above concert or Burnt Sugar at The Local in Saugerties or the Daniel-Marcus concert in Poughkeepsie. BTW-I have the dates wrong in the subject line-should be 14th and 15th.

Yeah, recognized the history was not complete. Didn't realize it was sold this past summer. On a different note, I understand that the single cd reissues of what were originally 2 Hat Hut lps did not contain all the music that was on those 2 lps.

Saw the MBs on March 6, 1972 at the Salle Pleyel in Paris, France. I knew nothing about the MBs or their music. Went to the concert with a group of friends and my then girlfriend. We had center seats around 4-6 rows from the stage. Incredible concert that I still remember 5 decades later.

My second to last order, the 7 cds, was shipped by DHL, not FEDEX FICP. That order was made 2 months previous to my last order. DHL still retained the shipping details in its database (I can access this information by using the tracking number on DHL's website). That shipping information indicates that the US customs clearing process can, and in that case did, start in Japan when DHL received (or even before its receipt of) the shipping information from CD Japan: "Customs clearance status updated. Note - The Customs clearance process may start while the shipment is in transit to the destination. - CINCINNATI HUB - Ohio - USA".
