  1. Hello As you might know we try to build a Organ Jazz discography at The Hammond Jazz Inventory. Doing that we sometimes run into questions. For example: Is Jerome Richardson on A Bag full of Blues by Jimmy McGriff the same as Jerome Richardson on Stay Loose by Jimmy Smith. Is Richard Davis on A Bag full of Blues by Jimmy McGriff the same as Richard Davis on Check This Out by Jack McDuff Is Babe Clark on Where Were You by Joey DeFrancesco (Bariton Sax) the same as Babe Clarke op Bashin' by Jimmy Smith Is Bob Bushness (bass) on Any Number Can Win by Jimmy Smith the same as the Bob Bushnell on Brother Jug! by Gene Ammons, Returns by Rusty Bryant and Sure 'Nuff by Sony Philips. Is Jimmy Johnson (drums) on Hobo Flats by Jimmy Smith the same as the Jimmy Johnson on Set Us Free by Reuben Wilson Is Saint Jenkins (drums) on Black Pearl by Jimmy McGriff the same as Willie Jenkins on Let's Stay Together and A Bag Full Of Soul also by Jimmy McGriff On all question we assumed the answer yes. Is that right? Friendly regards, Taeke
  2. Hello I ran into this Jimmy McGriff album called "Soul Sugar" and I have a few questions about the personnel listings that I find on the internet: 1) Is Murray Watson on trumpet on "Soul Sugar" the same Murray Watson who is playing on "Superstition" by Rhoda Scott 2) Is Cliff Davis on flute and tenor sax on "Soul Sugar" the same Clifford Davis who is playing on "Superstition"by Rhoda Scott 3) Sorting this out would be a great help. Regards, Taeke S. Tuinstra
  3. Thank you that's real fast. The concert agenda on the website of Dr. Prof Leonard King even lists gigs with both Gerard Gibbs (whose in The James Carter Organ Trio) and The Lyman Woodard Trio. My question was trivial Friendly Regards May 2008 THE GREAT DETROIT HAMMOND B3 TRADITION--Cliff Bells, 2030 Park Avenue (between W. Adams & W. Elizabeth), Detroit, MI., 9:30 p.m.-1 a.m., 961-2543, featuring: 29 Dr. Prof. Leonard King & Gerard Gibbs Duo/Orchestra 30 Oopapada featuring Dr. Prof. Leonard King, Chris Codish, & Robert Tye 31 The Lyman Woodard Trio & Friends featuring Ron English, & Dr. Prof. Leonard King, Dwight Adams, Steve Hunter, & Cornelious 'JuJu' Johnson.
  4. Hello All Would anybody by chance know whether the drummer/singer Leonard King on the "Saturday Night Special" album (1975) by Lyman Woodard Organization (Look here) is the same drummer Leonard King as on the album "Out Of Nowhere" by The James Carter Organ Trio (Look here). I assumed so and it would be interesting for my Orghammograms. Thank you very much in advance, friendly regards
  5. Hello all We thought you might like the following; The Hammond Jazz Inventory. A database driven website that's all about Hammond Jazz. Right now we list more then 200 albums. Of course Organissimo is in also. But there is more, articles, blogs, links etcetera. Our latest initiative is The Hammond Jazz Agenda. This enables jazz organists, but also agents, fans, jazz clubs, sons & daughters and anybody who wants to contribute to maintain a concert agenda. There are only two rules: it should be jazz and there must be an organ in it. I you want to see The Hammond Jazz agenda as published, click here. If you are interested in helping to make the agenda really big, click here. So, drop by and if you have a comment, leave a message here. Regards, Taeke S. Tuinstra, on behalf of The Hammond Jazz Inventory
