  1. 🤣🤣
  2. Thanks Jim! But damn, not a whole lot to it, is there?! Still, I was curious, so I very much appreciate your sharing it!
  3. I asked Scott about a Lionel Hampton 40s Decca/MGM set some time back, and he gave me his usual, friendly, "we'll have to take a look at that" response. I'd still like to see it.
  4. Steven Lasker did the remastering on this one, and it shows. Sound is better than some others in the series.
  5. My favorite record by that band.
  6. I had exactly the same reaction, and then I realized he was only a few years older than I am. Gulp. I think he did fine work introducing people to the music who might not otherwise have experienced it. RIP.
  7. I'd certainly go for a Morgan 60s set, and it does seem like it's been discussed. I wonder though. Will Michael's passing soften Mosaic's close connection with Blue Note?
  8. Yeah, you never know what sudden turns conversations will take around here! But getting back to the original, I'm not too surprised by the number. I have far more discs (vinyl and cd) by Duke than any other artist.
  9. The new 3-cd set (which I like a lot) caused me to go back and listen to this one.
  10. I went back and forth on how I liked the Select, so I've never picked up the 60s things. Recently, though, I listened to the Select again and liked it, so I'm in on this one. Pre-ordered.
  11. Back to reading Nat Hentoff's _Hear Me Talkin' To Ya_ again and the chapter on this guy. Thank goodness, as always, for John R. T. Davies!
  12. Fun compilation. He really was a fine clarinetist.
  13. I like it. It's motivating me to get some more!
  14. I listened to disc one of that set earlier today! Excellent indeed. This one came today, and I've been enjoying a bit of fun melodrama from Little Jimmy Scott:
  15. An amazing film which I thought was richly deserving of its oscar wins, *especially* for sound.
  16. Haven't listened to this one in too long
  17. I guess when it's complete, Riccardi's 3-volume effort, written, interestingly enough, in reverse order, will be pretty well definitive.
  18. Thanks Lon. I had seen that but hoped there might be another way. Oh well, it'll come up for sale some way some day!
  19. Where do I go to buy this? Discogs lists it as existing but has no copies for sale.
  20. Tough call, but I think I agree with those who've listed the Basie Live Roulette set on Mosaic. That said, the Savory set........
  21. Oh my, this is dreadful news. So very, very sad to hear this. From the first Monk set on, I feel like much of my jazz listening life has consisted of following in his wake as he birthed beautiful album after beautiful album, set after set, opening me up to so much wonderful music. I will be forever in his debt.
  22. Got this one on Chuck's recommendation, and, as usual, he's absolutely right. The sound is very good. Like the video stuff too. Thanks Chuck!
