  1. Released during the golden age of Columbia Legacy reissues:
  2. Enjoyed the finale to "Interview with a Vampire" last night. Cool ending.
  3. Sooooo, went to see "Kinds of Kindness." I liked "Poor Things," but this one, not so much.
  4. Listening to some prime Bud Freeman:
  5. I'm 70, and my son knows he'll have to deal with it someday. I'll be past caring. So, we don't talk about it. He doesn't particularly want to think about it, and I don't want to tell him that, well, I'm still buying cds............
  6. Me too. "The Searchers" is a case in point. I think Duke's character knows that this happy ending won't last, and that a young woman raised in a tribe won't be happy coming back. Of course, that may just be me, but I do love that great, great Western!
  7. Great minds?? I'm watching that one tonight!
  8. Loved him in so many movies, but for me, it's Oddball in Kelly's Heroes. He is such great fun in that!
  9. Back home after a long trip and reading Hentoff again, which meant listening to these two, each of whom gets a chapter.
  10. 🤣🤣
  11. Thanks Jim! But damn, not a whole lot to it, is there?! Still, I was curious, so I very much appreciate your sharing it!
  12. I asked Scott about a Lionel Hampton 40s Decca/MGM set some time back, and he gave me his usual, friendly, "we'll have to take a look at that" response. I'd still like to see it.
  13. Steven Lasker did the remastering on this one, and it shows. Sound is better than some others in the series.
  14. My favorite record by that band.
  15. I know there are folks around here who like B movies even more than I do, and Corman really was the king. I read recently that he made the original "Little Shop of Horrors" in two days plus a little! And yet, that's a wonderful movie! And all those fun Poe movies! What a wonderful career! RIP!
  16. I had exactly the same reaction, and then I realized he was only a few years older than I am. Gulp. I think he did fine work introducing people to the music who might not otherwise have experienced it. RIP.
  17. I'd certainly go for a Morgan 60s set, and it does seem like it's been discussed. I wonder though. Will Michael's passing soften Mosaic's close connection with Blue Note?
  18. Yeah, you never know what sudden turns conversations will take around here! But getting back to the original, I'm not too surprised by the number. I have far more discs (vinyl and cd) by Duke than any other artist.
  19. The new 3-cd set (which I like a lot) caused me to go back and listen to this one.
  20. I went back and forth on how I liked the Select, so I've never picked up the 60s things. Recently, though, I listened to the Select again and liked it, so I'm in on this one. Pre-ordered.
  21. Back to reading Nat Hentoff's _Hear Me Talkin' To Ya_ again and the chapter on this guy. Thank goodness, as always, for John R. T. Davies!
