  1. Delroy Lindo should have gotten an Oscar nom for that one. gregmo
  2. I don't know about that. A new Armstrong set, a Lou Donaldson set, a Black and White Label set, and a possible Lee Morgan Blue Note 60s set? Seems to me they're fairly lively. gregmo
  3. Those prices are very, very good. Anyone who can afford it would be wise to take advantage of this one. gregmo
  4. I don't know Chuck, this response brought a wry smile to *my* face!! gregmo
  5. Given the correct cheesy sci-fi movie, the Theremin is a thing of beauty!! gregmo
  6. Woods isn't the only one to offer that kind of view of Haig. As fine a pianist as he was, he seems to have been a...singularly imperfect...human being. gregmo
  7. Oboe, absolutely. Played badly (and it is tough to play well) it makes finger nails on a blackboard sound soothing. gregmo
  8. Heard a track from this one on the radio and decided to listen to the whole thing. It had been far too long!
  9. I didn't know he was still with us. 101. Wow! "Underwear" is a classic. RIP. gregmo
  10. Sorry, just saw this. Got all three volumes of the Bob Cats recordings from Amazon and Ebay sellers. As for the LP--I've had it for far longer than I care to remember! Listening to volume 2 of the Complete Bob Cats now:
  11. Before I dropped my subscription to Down Beat (this year--just didn't have much I wanted to read anymore), I was perplexed that they no longer reviewed any Mosaic sets. I wondered if it was because the label had quit advertising its releases in the magazine. gregmo
  12. Listening to this old Swaggie LP, I liked it so much, I decided to order the group's 3 cds on Sounds of Yesteryear.
  13. Closed my eyes and picked this one out. Very third stream:
  14. I never liked the "professional" indexes in books I've read. I indexed both of my books myself. gregmo
  15. I have to confess that the Scientology thing put me off a little, but not nearly so much as the fusion stuff! Didn't his attachment to Scientology keep him from being able to perform in Germany?? That rings the oldest and dimmest of bells, somehow. Anyway, he was a fine pianist, and I liked him in an acoustic context. gregmo
  16. Finally got hold of this set. Listening to disc 4 now.
  17. Good sound on this one, and some fine Prez:
  18. I didn't realize until recently that Little had played on Frank Strozier's recordings for Vee Jay. As always, he played very, very well! gregmo
  19. Just finished this one. Some fine post-Lester Basie here.
