  1. Mosaic hasn't been on time with a release date since I don't know when. We'll see, but I wouldn't expect this one until the end of the summer. I'd be delighted to be wrong! gregmo
  2. Listening to Disc two of this fine set:
  3. Wasn't into Blues when the Mosaics came out, so I didn't get them. I did find the T-Bone Walker later and snapped it up. I enjoy it and wish I'd gotten the others at the time. But that's how it goes with Mosaic. You snooze, you lose. gregmo
  4. Great news on a JATP set. I'll be up for it, despite already having the '53 Tokyo and '56 Seattle concerts on cd. gregmo
  5. No sooner saw the email on my phone than I opened up my laptop and preordered. This one looks *really* interesting! Nice that they're offering a discount for early orders. I don't think they've done that before, have they? gregmo
  6. Some of Satch's last truly great playing on trumpet, IMHO. gregmo
  7. Disc 2. It had been too long since I enjoyed some good Toots.
  8. "Murder in Provence" on Britbox. Only three episodes, but I liked 'em. Hope there's another season. gregmo
  9. The thread on Brooks led me to listen again to this beauty.
  10. The Japanese reissued some Crown things. I have a cd of "The New Swingin' Herman Herd" by Woody Herman that I got in Japan a few years back. It was recorded in Chicago in March of 1960. I like the record. gregmo
  11. Lots of great music on those cool Woofy discs! gregmo
  12. Wild Bill was especially wonderful with Hodges on "Blues for New Orleans" from Ellington's great New Orleans Suite. I love all their collaborations. gregmo
  13. Surprisingly good sound on this one.
  14. Sorry to read today that Oscar-winning actor William Hurt died at age 71. He was always interesting to watch and gave some great performances. RIP. gregmo
  15. Yep, that was the case. But I'm with Ken on that character. gregmo
  16. Just saw the very fine Japanese film, "Drive My Car." gregmo
  17. Disc VI with the Capitol Jazzmen. Some rare Jimmie Noone on clarinet. And of course, Big T.
  18. So very sorry to hear this. Too young. RIP. gregmo
  19. The renewal of this thread caused me to get out that Felsted box and listen to it. Lovely version of "My One and Only Love" by Hawk on disc 5. Thanks for the reminder! gregmo
  20. It's hard to go wrong with Mr. Five by Five! gregmo
  21. Right after Deep Throat..........
  22. I agree. If anything, Ellington's piano style was one of his more original contributions. Monk certainly paid attention to him. The Armstrong bio was good. RIP. gregmo
