I thought it was funny when a fifties session would get reissued in the 70s, and they would slap a picture on the cover of the artist in the 70s, with muttonchop sideburns and a bad combover.
OK, OK, you all got the gig opening for Shecky Green in the Poconos.
Seriously, if that tiny Bose radio sounds as good as it does, someone must manufacture a pair of little speakers that sound good through a half decent amplifier. What's out there?
Yes, I can switch between A or B speakers. It's a big solid state Pioneer amp from (I'm guessing) the early 70s. The speakers don't need to go really loud, but just sound good at a low to medium level. It's kind of a chill out room for when I have friends over for cocktails...
Suggest a pair of decent small speakers that won't put me in the poor house. I have auxiliary speaker outputs on my amp, and want to wire them into a room with limited space.
Summer's here, and here's what I want (not holding my breath):
Herbie Mann's African Suite (UA)
John McFarland - Provocatif (UA)
and a twofer of:
Les Baxter's Jungle Jazz and African Jazz (w/Plas Johnson and Larry Bunker) (Capitol)
not on the select...?
Well, it is, but frankly not all of Johnny Richards' stuff does it for me. And I don't think Mosaic uses the original cover art in their sets, do they?
As with any label, it depends on when it was first released and how long it stayed in the catalog. So, you can have an early Miles Davis album with several label changes over the years.
It gets difficult when an album was released right on the cusp of when they were switching designs.
Also, there are (slight) variations with both the 2 and 6 eye labels.
