The audio stream is IDENTICAL to the source audio so no need to explicitly say that they "still sound better". Yes, they're certainly larger files than ogg vorbis or mp3.
Lossless = no information is removed from the audio stream. "identical information" can't result in "better quality".

I guess you're talking about his solo spots; yes, they could get repetitive sometimes. But if you take a look at what I consider his essential recordings (mostly studio) I don't think that's true.
Jaco Pastorius (debut)
Bright Size Life (Metheny)
Trilogue Live! (Mangelsdorff)
Joni Mitchell albums
The WR stuff
Word Of Mouth (my favorite, the thing is brilliant and it's no bass showcase recording - although he pulls off some pretty wicked things on that one, too)
Twins I/II
(Toronto '82)

Guess it's all speculation and I don't have evidence either way anyway. More opinions from other chess people:

I knew it all along that I don't have the mental stamina and will power to turn this into a tennis thread. Time to weep and question my existence.
Why not simply make a copy of that DVD and get rid of the region code, macrovision, subtitles, languages you don't need, etc. and include it with the original?
Windows? dvd decrypter, dvd shrink.
Just watching this makes me choke; lots of pressure there. Being a "fuck it, this isn't going to be easy" kind of guy I admire the mental strength of those people who consistently make semifinals/finals in their respective sport and have lots of respect for any people who can (or can almost) make a living doing competitive sports.
