MLS Final tonight between LA and Houston in what might be Beckham's last game in the US. Anybody else following this championship ? With our local team joining the league, have started to follow them around a bit more. Games are rather interesting to watch, although teams are rather poor tactically and the talent is a bit uneven which gives a bit of unpredictability to the whole thing. LA are logical favourites for this one. -

Rather dramatic and controversial win for the Real that allows them to remain on top of La Liga -
Looks like we have reached a deadend street All I could come up so far is 'Dancing on the Ceiling' (Erroll Garner) Anybody has more? Lionel Ritchie did a track with the same title but obviously a different song.

Variations Goldberg by Uri Caine, quite an enjoyable, eclectic and at times funny gig. -

Big talk here in Montreal is whether Calvillo will come back, his health seems to be a factor, with more proof being delivered about concussions having a debilitating permanent effect on athlete's health, current pro athletes seem to prefer to be safe than sorry. Other noteworthy thing about the match, only thirty thousand spectators were there at the Big O , the Als seem to have lost their power of attraction in Montreal, hope we're not gonna back to the dark ages of the mid eighties. -

Don't think we ever had such little gap between the first and last place so late during the year. -
I think people born beyond a certain time, 1975 say, simply never watched "60 Minutes." (I used to have a similar reaction when I bumped into people who claim to never have seen a black & white movie. Old movies used to be shown on free-TV all the time, but at a certain point, in the 80's I think, that just stopped.) The little I know about 60 minutes was their promos during NFL games on CBS . By the way born in 1970, never connected with this show.

Are there any box bargains currently available?

But be sure them reds still take oaths on the queen or that free shipping deal may be over fast! (Kind of perverted, anyway - free shipping from UK to OZ! Holy shit!) Yeah, that's kind of wack. And free shipping to India and South Africa too! I'm sitting here in Canada, and I don't get free shipping (still part of the Commonwealth last time I checked). It wouldn't be such a big deal, but Amazon.ca is definitely the poor cousin to Amazon.com and even Amazon.co.uk in terms of selection and price. Yep especially compared to the US version, if it's any consolation, they did improve, it was way worse a few years ago. -

So me let get this straight , feeing sorry for people losing their jobs you are being labelled a crazy leftist, seems to me this company is a microcosm of the US economy, company loses money , the company has a bunch of people getting middle-class salaries and and rich who are earning an obsene amount of money . Then the company to make costs is cutting down the middle class and elects not to touch any advantage to the megarich thus exarcerbating the gap between the money earned by the rich and the poor. We call that a great system and call extremists people who feel it's not fair and trying to figure out a better way. -

Saw last tuesday Gillian Welch, the second part was better than the first, she seemed more at ease and it did not feel like listening to flat cd version of her songs venue was horrible, what's the point of making a gig like this in a place where it is standing room on the first floor, seating being available only on the balcony. The best part was the crowd who gave her the rock star treatment. This thursday saw Maceo Parker, had good memories of him when I saw him about ten years ago, will have to stick with my memories, rather ordinary going through the motion gig with not much genuine energy. -
And obviously , the next thing after I wrote that, both pitchers have their easiest inning ...

No pitching duel tonight, it will be more of a war of attrition...

Quite frankly, the way the play and they plan, St-Loiuis deserves to lose.

French played better in the second half, thought some of the decision making by the All Blacks was not very good. Not a classic indeed but I'm sure people in New Zealand won't mind. Congrats to them. -

All Blacks dominated Australia, only reason that the visitors stayed in the game so long was the poor kicking game by the team from New Zealand. The All Blacks will obviously be big favourites based on recent form and home advantage. If the French win it it will be by making it ugly . -

The first half was not much to look at and despite the men advantage can't say the French played that well but to be honest neither team executed that well throughout the match however the second half turned out into an epic thriller, that said French will have to show better form if they want to prevail against the Oceanian champs. -

Posted it in the what are you watching thread but remembered we had one about the previous World Cup so might as well add it up. Watched Rugby World Cup action, as the sport is rather hierarchised it's the usual suspects that qualified for the Quarters, uneven France showed their best side against England to have a date in a semi-final that will turn out to be an officious European championship against Wales who won against Ireland in what was a terrific match . On the other side of the bracket not sure that Australia was deserving of a win against the defending champs but at the end of the day they will meet the hosts the All Blacks who had a tougher time than the score indicates against a good defensive side in Argentina
