  1. You mean "is". Weston's still records and tours. One of the greats IMHO.
  2. Just about anything Woody did is essential IMO.
  3. Yeah, it's a good one.
  4. Found the website and ordered the Johnson. Thanks! I'm a sucker for Nichols "tributes".
  5. There's actually two recordings of Woody with the Tone Jansa Quartet, one titled WOODY SHAW WITH THE TONE JANSA QUARTET from 1985, the other DR. CHI from 1986. Both are on the Timeless label.
  6. Excellent recording Phil. Like this band a whole lot. Agree with the above poster about Rosenwinkel; probably the most I've enjoyed his playing. really a killer band with some great original compositions. Congrats Phil! BTW, anyone know where I can find that Johnson CD?
  7. I wrote one on the Woody Shaw.
  8. A bit too "busy" looking IMO but certainly a lot easier to navigate through the site. Reminds me of one of those travel sites like travelocity.
  9. As a long-time Weston fanatic, I love this set. Even though I had managed to amass all of the music (with the exception of the unissued session) already, the improved sound makes this acqusisition doubly worthwhile. Agree with the previous poster about the unissued session; can't see why it never was released.
