  1. Excellent vinyl - also here in stock! Now listening to this one rec. 1950~1951
  2. Its one of the 8 PJ albums with the coverart of West Coast resident artists which made these paintings especially for Richard Bock's label. Have posted them all some days ago in another thread here at Organissimo.

  5. Thanks for that "nice translation". Had to smile a bit. But this tune "high on an open mike" is one of my favorite bebop tunes with Charlie Ventura on his GNPS Cat # 1 concert LP I have with a super group featuring Ventura, Candoli, Boots Mussulli, Benny Green, Roy Kral (p & voc), Jakie Cain (voc) ,Kenny O' Brian (b) & Ed Shaugnessy (dr). The complete 1949 concert was issued IMO on 2 vinyls GNP 1 & MCA Coral PCO 7183
  6. An interesting compilation from Fresh Sound (Spain) + some private stuff but very good and rare
  7. Thats correct. But he is mentioned in liner notes on the backside. Also LORD's does lists him for f the LP. 8. I still like it and the other one. both helped me to build my Pacific Jazz collection.
  9. To anwers the question: No but is seems to be licensed. The backside of the EVEREST version is a replica of the Hi-FiJAZZ LP. BTW Havent seen it on CONTEMPORARY and I have a mass of that label. The Hi-Fi Jazz version is here
  10. Well I was introduced to Bill Haley & Freddie Bell & the Bellboys via the the movie " Blackbord Jungle" with Glenn Ford. They also played there the Kenton piece "Invention for guitar & trumpet" with Maynard and Salvador and that did it for me. I was hooked to Stans music for the next 20 years. If you can remember the scene when this young guy trow the 78's disc through the classroom? My young heart nearly stood still. These were the times Best W. Additional remark: This is one of the better Paul Holrn recordings for me.
  11. Looks like something I have seen on the EVEREST label. Have to check it. The cover is really adventurous and I like it. Yep - found it but the colors are not as bright as your scan and they used only a part of the complete painting. BTW EVEREST did some more of those covers (left half was a painting or graphic) Will compile them and ad them later just as conversation piece. Here is the Paul Horn .... and thanks for your comments.
  12. More from the "West Coast Artists series" on Pacific Jazz Cover artists are: Bob Irwin - Chet Baker / Edmond Kohn - Russ Freeman Trio / Vito - Hamilton in Hi-Fi / Sueo Serisawa - Ellington Suite
  13. Had a short discussion with another member re cover art of a West Coast label. Pacific Jazz Records promoted on his earlier covers other artists as painter & sculptors in a series called "West Coast Artist Series". After a bit of checking they have featured this on 8 volumes with the artwork of resident artists from the West Coast . These artworks were done expressly for Pacfic Jazz. Here are 4 of them. More to follow from my collection. The artists are as follows: - Keith Finch - Gerry Mulligan LP / - John Atoon - LP Solo Flight & LP Blakey "Ritual" / Sueo Serisawa LP Jack Montrose
  14. Thats a good one. Some years ago I was in touch via mail with the producer of Astral Records John Loeffler (german born Hans Löffler). He informed me about other recordings he had produced. We did exchange some music (more from his side than mine). Here are other copies: Kenton,Stan "live" at KEESELER Air Force Base 1958 Astral Jazz 102 Kenton,Stan Concert in Wiesbaden 1953 Astral Jazz 101 Kenton,Stan Kenton ' 63 - Concert in England 1963 Astral Jazz 104 and the above mentioned compilation issue # 105 on the Astral label. Here I like best the period from 1951 to 1958 Part of this issue are also 2 tracks from the famous Berlin Sportpalast concert. I think that was Stans first visit to Germany. I have them all and must say these were the times when Stan really had great bands. Nice to see that also our common friend Fred Augermann was part of the production crew for 3 of those and also another friend Steven D. Harris on 2 copies.
  15. A CD seldom seen but its here too. Looks like his dad
  16. Welcome in a great time period of Jazz. I am still there ;-}}
