  1. Any Bill Holman Item is a highlight. So is also this Jazzed Media CD
  2. Just a bit more of Spike Robinson - a great swinger
  3. Spike Robinson not often seen in this forum
  4. One of the later Contemporarys of the 14... series. Excellent! The # C 14012 with Shorty Rogers is also highly recommended Re: Ernie Wilkins This one from 1983 is also here. I am a great Wilkins fan with that "almost big band" ;-]]
  5. ... and one more - rec.june 1981
  6. West Coast jazz is my main direction and the Contemporary label an important part of my collection. These are my Red Mitchell albums under his name as leader. But he is a very important musician in the complete West Coast scene and can be found on many Items. 7. Here is the Contemporary cover (with the little cat)
  8. The latter is here. Also interesting this one MPS /BASF MC-25112 - Dave Pike SEt " Riff For Rent" - rec. 1969 Berlin
  9. Ahh yes its excellent. John, have them all = the vinyls & the CD's. He is my favorite beside Shorty Rogers BB. In addition to the official CD above there has been a broadcast from that Matinee at Villa Berg on May 13, 2001 with some more tracks which do not appear on that CD. Have here a CD-.R copy with that program from my buddy in Berlin. .... and some time ago I made another CD-R for myself with material I recorded from radio HR after his visit in Frankfurt, Germany. This was recorded at the HR studio at radio Frankfurt.
  10. Soundwise the MPS recordings are the best IMO. Most "jazzy" trio is however for me ---> Peterson - Brown - Ellis and the earlier versions with Barney Kessell at JATP. ;-]] The late Bob Florence had a good cooperation with the german radio "Hessischer Rundfunk" in Frankfurt. Many years ago I did record some studio broadcast with Bob & some HR bigband recordings. I was in touch with Bob via email and had tried to get him a gig at the WDR . But the "big heads" there were not interested at that time. Really a loss which cannot be repaired.
  11. Have the vinyl on Black Orchid
  12. MPS / BASF ST 20227146 - Frank Rosolino / Conte Candoli " Conversation" - rec. 1975 - Engineer: Willi Schmidt Quote Reply
