  1. RE: Stan Getz Have the 2 ROOST vinyls. No complaint. Does the CD sound differently?
  2. Agree to your analysis. Have several of his albums on vinyl. Smooth listening stuff. All 5 volumes are a very good listening stuff. Feldman with his block chords is tremendous.
  3. Melodia C60 22851 000 - Alexei Kuznetsov Quintet - Concert In The Olympic Village" - rec. 1984 - Engineer: L. Dolzhnikov
  4. There exist some more CD's with Sammy & the SWR BB on this "Hänssler" label.
  5. Yes thats correct what you say. AFAIK Joachim Kühn (p) is from East Berlin (Former DDR or GDR). Also correct - His bother playing clarinet = Rolf Kühn (or Kuhn in engl:) Both emigrated to the US. Rolf Kühn played very much in the Buddy DeFranco style. Ponomarev is known to me. We had him with the Messengers in 1979 in our private Jazzclub in Koblenz (Germany). See my foto below + autographs. Here is one of the eastern big bands with guests from the West. Yes like her very much. Have some very fine livebroadcast from german & Switzerland radio + a nice concert with Yes a very good explanation. Listening to VOA (here in Germany via LW coming from Tanger (Africa) to us) was important for the music alone. No complaints at that time even when the voice of Willis did fade away and coming back here and then during the broadcast. BTW his archive is IMO available via net from the University of Texas. Had just contacted them some days ago to provide a link to listen to these broadcasts again.
  6. I used to trade jazz from behind the Iron Curtain with people from East Germany (DDR at these times). This one above and some stuff more from Poland, CSSR a. o. Also many bigbands. There was a living jazz scene in those eastern countries influenced by listening to the VOA with Willis Conover especially in Hungary.
  7. Yes its a real joy to listen to that relaxed swing of this group. A great fan here!
  8. Is this the original edition? Have one on the "Flyright" label.
  9. Dark Orchid 601-04018 - Sammy Nestico - rec. 1981 - Engineer: Stan Ross
  10. Nice! Have several CD's with that band. Not too often seen here.
