Interesting Info by west coast researche Mr. Jim Harrod in another forum: It is good to know that the Pacific Jazz archive is still being mined for reissues although I’m not among the market for these high end analog vinyl gems in Blue Note’s “Tone Poet” series. LP’s to be reissued in 2024 include: Gil Evans - Great jazz Standards, Chet Baker Sings & Plays (PJ-1202), Lee Konitz Plays with Gerry Mulligan, Gerald Wilson - Moment of Truth, The Remarkable Carmell Jones, Joe Pass for Django, Chet Baker / Art Pepper - Picture of Heath, and Curtis Amy / Dupree Bolton - Katanga. 😁 👍 Yes the 1972 concert in Stuttgart. Have about on 4 open reels different portions from the radio recorded at that time when it was broadcasted by Zimmerle I guess. Didnt expect it would appear on CD. Same as the Rosengarten concert from Mannheim.

There isnt much "Traditional Jazz" found here at Organissimo. But here is an interesting crossection from a festival in Stuttgart 1984 representing some leading groups from Germany in that style. Indeed 4 top albums! All here on vinyl. The "Trombones" appeared also with this cover and different title:

I do support that. I came to Kenton via his great 1950s orchestra and the Capitol issues. He himself was also a good arranger: - Portrais & Sketches of Standards - Kenton presents (with Art Pepper) - New Concepts of Artistry in Rhythm - Contemporary Concepts and the great - Showcase (with Holman & Russo arranging) This period ended with "Back To Balboa" IMO & I lost him when the 'Neophonic Era' began with the Mellophoniums and that bombastic Wagner Interpretation. Yes he was a restless searcher as DB printed it. The recent discovered 1952 Stereo tracks from The Blue Note Club are again a highlight for me. What a Band with all the later West Coast stars. Among my more than 100 Kenton Items the 1950s are the best sounding Items for me. Here is something extra

IMO its not a 'ghost' band but an orchestra on its own based on a majority of members of the former TH-ML Orchestra. The sound is very alike but missing are Thad's arrangements and Thas & Mel naturally. OTOH they had invited some famous guests. In connection with Sal Mosca (one of the leading members) and another person connected to the former TH-ML Orchestra we collected various concerts and produced for a little cicle of interested fans the following concerts from that band on private CD-Rs: All I can say great big band music missing so much in Organissimo

I am one of the people liking Pete Christliebs's tenorsax and ofcourse the rest of that CD
