  1. Liberty (FSR reissue 1985) 054 2607951 - Bob Florence " Here And Now" - rec. 1964 - Engineer: "Bones" Howe
  2. "West Coast style" is mostly considered as a subform of 'Cool Jazz'. One of your compatriotes is a star of Cool Jazz: Hans Koller. Ever heard? Can recomment this book I just received a few days ago
  3. 😁 A really good one often played here
  4. Not only these but also Bud Powell
  5. Bob Florence died much too early. I am a big band fan and have everything he cut on records and some unissued material he did here in Germany with the radio Frankfurt big band. He preferred to arrange longer tracks to give the artists solo space. For my taste he belongs to the top 2 or 3 West Coast big bands beside Bill Holmans orchestra and the Shorty Rogers Big Express. Can recommend also his album "Westlake" on Discovery/Trend (Albert Marx production).
  6. Omega OCD 3025 - Four Jazz Legends At Newport 'Live' 1960 - Cannonball Adderley Quintet - Gerry Mulligan Concert Jazz Band - Oscar Peterson Trio - Dizzy Gillespie Quintet

  13. Atlantic SD 1447 - Dorothy Ashby " The Phantastic Harp of..." -rec. 1965 - Engineer: Tom Dowd
  14. 😁 👍 ❤️ I do like this one too that is nearly everything from Boll & his big band + many arrangememnts for other groups. He brought even Stans band to swing like mad. Throughout Europe he directed many radio bigbands of the different countries as from Switzerland, Germany (WDR big band / radio Frankfurt big band/ radio Hamburg big band) and also in the Netherlands. A real giant he was.
  15. Yes the complete 16 CD Box is a real treasure box on my shelves and as Art Pepper fan a must. The booklet shows all these original covers like above. Havent seen these in original size. Thanks for the Info
  16. Well Wilbur Ware and Philly Joe are a strong rhythm section and Johnny Coles isnt that bad either. Here we seem to disagree ;-]]
