  6. Looking back from today its mainstream West Coast style with good solos by Shank and Candoli. Similar sounds probably Marty Paich groups, dektetts.
  7. One of my earliest vinyls and still a top favorite. The "loose" swing of these guys is remarkable and timeless.
  8. Have many MGM vinyls and agree that the music on this label is great ans listenable even today. Wizard of Oz is one of my favorites (music and movie).
  9. Interesting cover art
  10. Bill Holman was in the 1980ies one of the leaders of the WDR Big Band in Cologne along with Mel Lewis and played many of his great compositions the first time here in Germany, sometime first a rehearshed studio version and then a public concert. Everything transmitted by german radio Cologne (WDR) At that time the WDR big band had no regular drummer so Mel sat in very often also with other US guests. Great times will never come back!
  11. Here are 3 more from that 10 LP reissue series by the late Bob Porter Wont miss a copy even I have some of the original CLEFS and Verves issued under the supervision of Norman Granz with some duplicate tracks. The compilations are really great. These times will never come back. Have seen one of the concerts in Frankfurt with Ella and have still the program. Sweet memories.
