I've found that over the years there are a limited amount of LPs in my collection that I've listened to on a regular basis. The last couple of weeks I've been trying to go through the ones that have been ignored. One thing I've found is that my taste in music has changed quite a bit. I've also gotten reacquainted with some really good records. One is "Just Play (1976)" on Quark Records by Karl Berger and Edward Blackwell. Really nice duet improvisations and Ed Blackwell is just a great drummer. One other interesting thing is that the play time for side 1 is 30 minutes and side 2 is 27 minutes. I thought only CDs were suppose to have that much music on them.

This topic has been fun for me because the 70s was when I started buying music from the jazz section. The albums that I am listing are ones that I still listen to quite often. To GA Russell, Your listing of the two If albums in the first post really brought back some memories. I played the living crap out of these two LPs in college. I still have them but unfortunately they sound like they have been rode hard and put up wet as well. For my taste this was the best of the so called "jazz-rock" music and maybe had some influence on my looking into jazz itself.

Thanks for bringing this up. I haven't played this record in a long time but I will fix that when I get home tonight. Another vibes trio record that would fit this thread is The Haunt by Bobby Naughton. Naughton on vibes with Perry Robinson on clarinet and Leo Smith on trumpet. A little bit on the "free" side I think.

Neat thread. A favorite of mine is call Naked on the Floor (title and group name) on Valid Records (validrecords.com). I bought it three or so years ago off of a review in Cadence. It is by a New Orleans group lead by guitarist Jonathan Freilich. Some interesting tunes with odd ball titles like "Fears Dress In The Subconsious (and then go out dancing)".

This doesn't add much substance to the discussion but this album really struck a cord with me when I got back in 1970whatever and it still does. I've played the record quite regularly since and it is actually in pretty good shape considering use. In my opinion, music doesn't get much better than this.

Hi, I've never posted here before but have followed this forum with interest. You guys seem to know your stuff. To that, any ideas on a fair sale price for The Complete 1959 Charles Mingus CBS Sessions (LP version)? Also, are there any resources (books, web sites,...) with price guides for used LPs? Thanks for any help.
