  1. I think TOCJ1500 only (still available).
  2. Try this http://www.allaboutjazz.com/php/article.php?id=17128
  3. Try Mike Ledonne "Smokin Out Loud".
  4. My Japanese K2 sounds perfect
  5. I have the Giuffre and also Milt Jackson "Plenty Plenty Soul". I agree the Giuffre sounds great, but the Jackson is a revelation compared to the crappy 80's CD.

    James Clay

I don't know about paying 2K for the vinyl, but I just picked up a beautifully remastered TOCJ of Tenorman from Japan for $12.
  7. Try this: http://www.hmv.co.jp/search/index.asp?sort...mp;formattype=1
  8. Well, I have the previous Jap CD issue, so good for all you others. But its issue sparks one crucial question: JUST WHAT ELSE IS COMING OUT ON 21 FEBRUARY?????? MG How do you make this size thing work? MG, There is a LOT of great soul jazz Prestige stuff scheduled for release 21 Feb (McDuff, Scott, Roach, Timmons etc). I expect you have most of it in some form, but I will be taking the opportunity to pick these up at a bargain price.
  9. I've always liked Eastern Rebellion with George Coleman on Timeless.
  10. The Pretidigitator has just been released as a paper sleeve in Japan.
  11. Having listened to the sound bites I have to agree. That synthesizer solo on Alone Again Naturally is soooo cheezy
  12. I've only heard it being played in local jazz outlet, but I agree it sounds really good. Byron lacks the raunchy sound of Walker but the backing band is terrific. I'm going to get this. Could not be more different from my only other Byron CD, Tuskegee Experiments.
  13. For those allergic to AMG: "For this stellar 1972 release on Verve, the Organ Grinder accompanied by Leroy Vinnegar, Teddy Edwards, Ray Crawford, Donald Dean and Victor Pantoja comes home to where it all began: the blues. These high spirited and relaxed sessions give each musician the chance to stretch out over a tantalizingly funky blues that features five Smith originals along with Harvey Siders' "Mournin' Wes," a tribute to friend and fellow musician Wes Montgomery." 1 Straight Ahead 2 Lolita 3 Absolutely Funky 4 Mournin' Wes 5 Blues for 3+1 6 Bluesmith
  14. Chewy, go here to see session details and AMG review (four and a half stars: http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&a...10:q09as37ya3zg Teddy and Jimmy are a great combination.
  15. The good news is that this terrific session with Teddy Edwards is finally on CD. The bad news is it is only available from an Italian label called Lilith. Does anyone know this label? Given that Verve seem to have ceased releasing this kind of material it may be the only way to get it.
  16. It looks like the 32Jazz is OOP. However, Pony Canyon reissued it a few years ago in Japan and it may still be available. I've put in an order and look forward to hearing this if it turns up.
  17. I second New Africa
  18. Jay Berliner - Bananas Are Not Created Equal I wonder if this is related to Donovan's Mellow Yellow?
  19. Cha Cha J is there - track 7. The site is also in English
  20. Cha Cha J is there - track 7.
  21. I got it here http://www.hmv.co.jp/Product/detail.asp?sku=113750
  22. I just ordered the TOCJ from Japan. Its still available.
  23. Anyone familiar with this version of The Connection which has McGhee and Tina Brooks? Sounds interesting.
  24. Not to mention most of the Impulse catalogue is still in limbo
  25. If you are talking about a record called "Colours" its excellent. Very cool and funky. Recently been reissued in Aus.
