  1. Amir ElSaffar. I am always late to the party... Looking forward to see him live in Melbourne in May.
  2. Ouch! I saw BD about 25 years ago in Singen/Germany. My second live jazz experience (first was Myra Melford). Still have the signed promo poster from that tour in my music room but colors are fading away.
  3. Yes, but not their main business. I think you can see (part of?) their inventory on discogs (seller dutch-vinyl). That's where I found the Plugged Nickel box as well.
  4. In general, I agree. The only one I visit occasionally is Dutch Vinyl in Abbotsford. They also sell excellent inner and outer LP sleeves. Recently bought a new "Complete Live at the Plugged Nickel" CD box set from them for a fair price. Quality Records in Malvern is closing, which is a shame. They were my local source of Speakers Corner and Pure Pleasure.
  5. Finally! A brand new set. Disc 1
  6. I use ISO-PUCKs from the same brand between monitors and speakers stand.Good product. (I had Contour 1.3 in the past before I moved to active speakers).
  7. Yes, there are still some 2nd hand vinyl shops in Melbourne's trendy suburbs. But it must be a tough market. Just last month two independent record stores announced that they are going out of business, one of them after 40 years in Melbourne.
  8. Yes, a Brinkmann Bardo (with Jelco SA-750EB tonearm, Acoustical Systems arche headshell and Ikeda 9TS MC cartridge). Do you still have your Lagrange? Haha, easy to look down on reissues (Maseratis) when you have original pressings (Ferraris). I guess everyone would prefer these but they are nearly impossible to find in near mint condition. And if you find one, expect to pay $$$$.
  9. Very happy with my 1992 Analogue Productions stereo.reissue, remastered by Doug Sax. One of the very first AP reissues.
  10. Got this call for support from his daughter, Serena Cobb, via Legacy Recordings: https://www.gofundme.com/f/jimmy-cobb?cid=nl267037&utm_medium=email_SFMC&utm_source=6383315&utm_campaign=email-267037-202025&utm_content=nllink-8807363-MilesDavis_News_Support+for+Jimmy+Cobb Happy to help.
  11. +1 Don't know how I missed this one. Wonderful track.
  12. Gave up hunting and bought a new set from ebay. Hopefully I can forget the price I paid once I listen to the music...
  13. Fair point. Will give it a try.
  14. Given the limited time I have available for listening to music, I doubt I ever will reach the depth of knowledge necessary to participate in a BFT without making a fool of myself. That's the sad truth.
  15. Just finished the 90-page "liner notes" written by Simon Spillett. These must be the most extensive liner notes I have in my music collection. Very informative for a Tubby Hayes newcomer like me. Thank you for these magnificent notes, @SimonSpill. I very much enjoyed your work. This is truly an outstanding box set in every respect.
  16. Tubbs would have been 85 today. Happy birthday!
  17. And then he might get the idea to operate your Brinkmann... there goes the cantilever.
  18. First CD from the Fontana box set. First time ever I play a Tubby Hayes album. No regrets! First time ever I listen to MQA as well. Will play around later with enabling/disabling the MQA decoder to see whether it makes any difference.
