  1. I understand what you're saying, but the thing about this one is that it looks like one you would open. I only knew about it, because of the way it appeared on the list of e-mails as a normal e-mail. Normally I would have opened it, because "Hi" is not an unusual subject. The only reason I didn't open it was that I had been warned by someone who is a computer systems analyst and was, himself, almost fooled because his seemed to come from me. It's not about the stupidity of the recipient. It's not really fair to blame the recipient. The virus people are the ones who are being destructive. It's an assault and blaming the victim is not the right response, IMO. The virus-sender is the one who did something criminal, not the recipient who was simply reading their mail.
  2. Yes. I was tipped off the other day. It can appear as someone you usually correspond with, or just a name you don't recognize. It looks like a personal message with an attachment. Luckily my correspondant called me to ask if I had sent anything, before opening it. His had my name as the sender and the subject was "Hi", making it seem like a harmless note. Mine was an unknown name, with the same subject, "Hi". I deleted it and dumped my deleted file immediatly and don't have a problem, but it's diabolical and pointless, as all these viruses are.
  3. "Masterhit" 's trick of turning the post into mirror-printing is unworthy of this thread. Rather makes me think of the young DAVID COPPERFIELD at the very, very beginning of his now very successful career. Anyone with a printer can read the post. So...................what's the deal?? Did our thread-originator transform his own post into mirror-printing, or is it possible for someone else to skew our posts?? Was this self-immolation, much like a Buddhist monk, or something more sinister? Strange. And, speaking of strange, who is this new poster, "Deepisaloser"?? Joined today. No posts, anywhere. What's up with just being a provocateur?? That's more offensive than any of the exchanges on this thread, IMO.
  4. What happened?? As Harold said, "Say it ain't so, Joe"!
  5. Republicans. Testesterone overload. What can you do??
  6. The mind boggles. A brain and a spare. A head and a spare. Where will it end?? Neither one lives anywhere. That is, unless *Not Given* is a village in Arkansas who has lost an important member of their community.
  7. Nonsense. I was merely defending everyone's right, including yours, to freedom of expression. You exercise your right to freedom of expression all the time. So do I. That's all I was saying. I don't need a champion. I have never expected to have anyone champion me, although the idea is appealing, in a quaintly old-fashioned way. I can defend myself, although I'm not indistructable.
  8. I disagree with ANYONE being banned, even those with whom I may disagree. If someone posts a comment which is inflammatory, directed at a particular post-mate, the offended person is perfectly able to rebut, just like in real life. I, for one, am fairly tolerant and have met few people who can't be reasoned with. Provocative posts are not that unusual and are usually intended to stimulate spirited debate. No blood will ever be shed here, so to let the controversial comment play itself out is a realistic solution, IMO. Banning a poster should be the absolute last avenue, so seldom chosen that the offending poster will live in infamy. As far as I can see, nobody fits that catagory..............yet. But, what do I know??
  9. Will do Clint. As for my hirsuteness, I'm Norwegian. We have so little body hair that it takes me about twenty minutes, twice a year, to tweeze out the twenty-six hairs, total on my shins. I have inner chest hair, the most dangerous kind. Angora makes me sneeze. I prefer four-ply cashmere.
  10. Exactly. Thank you Alexander.
  11. Lyrics are the expression of the composer's view of whatever he/she is thinking when they're writing them. They are thoughts, put to music, whether they are about love, betrayal or life as it's being experienced. So, it stands to reason that the political and social climate of the time would be reflected in the lyrics of songs of an era. I don't know why this would be a surprise. But, there are many who choose to ignore the message, whether it's conveyed by literature, art or music. Although I think that they are ripping the heart from the total work, I suppose that because the artform, whatever it is, can also be enjoyed, or not, on it's own merits, they miss a large part of it's significance. Books, photographs and music are the most powerful vehicles of change, so are not just art. They are history in the making.
  12. Great photographer. His photographs were considered in the same catagory as some of Robert Mapplethorpe's more controversial work. Both broke new ground, although both disturbed the viewer, which was the point. However both photographers had wonderful eyes and showed us what they saw. RIP Helmut Newton.
  13. That's all I'm saying. Life is not compartmentalized. Each segment makes up a part of the totality. To think otherwise is unrealistic.
  14. You would have to be drunk or stoned to confuse the cracker "mock apple" pie with the actual real thing. Point taken. It never occurred to me that our thread-originator and THE GROPER could be the same person. What would be the point?? Surely nobody else on this board is so unsure of their views that they are posting as different people and, in a sense, talking to themselves. Now, THAT'S stupid, not to mention one of the first signs of insanity!! Say it isn't so!!!!
  15. Okay, that might make some sense. Does the GROPE agree about this characterization? My humble opinion: APPLES AND ORANGES.
  16. I've always felt that art, whether it's painting, literature, photography or music can't help but be affected and influenced by the politics of the day. All aspects of our lives intertwine. Nothing is really isolated, but must be seen as part of the broader picture.
  17. Thanks Clifford. I had never heard that term before and even now, don't know whether I've ever heard an example of it.
  18. Response, DEEP? FOR CHRISSAKES THAT'S A NO BRAINER. After I get my nut and the right of passage to always get it...WHO GIVES A FUCK WHAT THEY SAY...JUST SPREAD.............................. ........................*WORD* !!........DIG?? DEEP SO, EVERYBODY WINS. COOL. .......................... Thanks for the movie rec. Is that your own review, or a cut and paste??
  19. Chuckling quietly. Of course I get it. But, Abbott and Costello is not as good a comparison as the Nick and Nora Charles.......from Hell is. To me, it's cyber-tennis. Don't think I haven't received my share of criticism, but it's all stemmed from my insistance that everyone who wishes be afforded complete, censorship-free opportunity to express themselves, however they want. I have defended our thread-originator, on many occasions on boards from which he was eventually banished. As a result, I incurred the wrath of people who thought I was an irredeemable "piece of trash" etc. etc. etc, as one e-mail correspondant called me. This freedom, of course, assumes that those who hold different views, or have a different way of expressing themselves have an opportunity to do that too. That's all I'm saying.
  20. I certainly don't think I'm invincible. As for how pleasurable good sex is, well, there's nothing like it. Chocolate, money, nothing compares. There is also nothing more depressing than bad sex. I was facinated, earlier, by your fail-safe method of making yourself essential to a woman's life, by skillfully lying to her with pseudo-passionate declarations of your regard for her. It occurred to me that you seem to think that every time a woman whispered, "You're the best", or "I've never felt this way before", that they weren't stroking your ego because you seemed to expect it. Had you ever thought of that?? Again, maybe I'm totally wrong, but........maybe not.
  21. Boy oh boy...THIS IS LIKE SHOVELLING SHIT AGAINST THE TIDE. For starters I don't have to put any effort into "getting laid". I need only walk into the next room or get in my car and drive into the city for that. In fact, I don't even need to enter the adjoining room. I could summon my mate and I then fuck her while I'm still posting. You on the other hand.... Re you not ever being offended: Maybe you're not but it is apparent that b-3 is uncomfrtable 'cause he don't like the way things have been "going down" on this thread. Your presence actually gets some of us in some DEEP shit and will most likely get me the boot. DEEP How could you possibly know anything at all about my sex life, or celibacy?? I don't doubt for a moment that you have a miriad of possibilities for erotic expression. My parry was merely in response to your unnecessary thrust. So, relax. Nobody is questioning your erotic opportunities, which are of course limitless. I would also like to have put on record that I am ABSOLUTELY OPPOSED to your getting the boot, especially on the strength of anything you've posted so far. There's no blood on the cobblestones. If you are determined to ratchet up the action, in order to tempt the site-Czars, that's up to you. I have never objected to your contribution, but merely reacted to your posts. By posting, we all put ourselves in the crosshairs, as you well know. Your move............
  22. Not so. Why would you care what I think of you?? The ultimate hypocracy would probably be that you are not the total asshole you paint yourself to be here, but are actually an intelligent, sensitive and ribaldly funny man, who also happens to be a great musician, don't you think?? None of us are only one thing. Why do you seem to want people to loathe you?? I guess that has it's own kick. For the record, I didn't think that you wanted an exclusively porn site. In fact, I suggested that specific forums are legion and available to anyone who cares to look for them. Whatever anyone who posts here wants to say to me, they can say it here. If they are uncomfortable with my presence, or my opinions, they have only to say that. As for whether I should get laid and stop posting, you're here a lot too and unless you're a multi-tasker, you're wasting time posting when you could be getting laid. Do you have a 34 hour day?? I think that you are misjudging me, not only on my apparent prissiness, but my having any sort of opinion of individual posters. They are what they post and are already, for the most part, anonymous.
  23. PATTY, Allow me to do my Bessie impressions compliments of Albertson: Honey, You fuckin' just don't fuckin' get the whole fuckin' concept for fuck's sake!! For some reason you have it in your noodle that guys just wanna talk about fuckin' and suckin' for the sake of vulgarity. Did it ever cross your mind that JAZZ people wanna talk about that FUCKIN' SHIT by interacting with OTHER JAZZ PEOPLE!!?? "No" you say?? WELL FUCKIN' THINK ABOUT *THAT*, WOMAN !!!...DUH!! DEEP And how is the forum, as it stands now, preventing you from interacting with other Jazz People? DUH indeed. Oh I get it. If a poster is not a jazz musician, but merely a collector/listener/appreciator of the genre, they aren't welcome. Why didn't you say that the site is restricted to that segment and just tell all the rest of us, who merely love JAZZ and enjoy talking to other people about that and other things too should just realize you want to talk to each other? I understand. The problem with that is that you are asking to have a much larger segment, who are, after all, who make jazz what it is, a performance medium, be excluded, so that you can all gaze at your navels, and exchange war stories. Why didn't you say so?? I have no problem with that. That would exclude most of the posters and if that's what you want, fine. One of the most valuable functions of this, and other Jazz sites is to stimulate interest in the music and to give us some insight into the creators of this artform as individuals. If that's not what you want, then that's fine too.
  24. My reply to JSangry, OK. That's what I thought. My point has not been to object to a special forum, but just to question the necessity of one here. As I mentioned in a previous post, there are hundreds of such forums available already, where you can let it all hang out, so to speak. I'm not demanding equal access to the BOY'S CLUB. In fact, if the idea of having a separate forum is to exclude me and other women or those men who are judged unworthy or too squeamish, well, that's fine. I don't go where I'm not wanted. I obviously can't speak for anyone but me.
