some guy is arguing w/ christian mcbride on twitter about it and christian says "i'm QUITE familar with Esqurita, sir. However hew was not the king of Rock and Roll. Quite influential on Richard, but influencers are not the same as innovators." -

concerts are always my favorite memories so they tend to stick better

This guy was a freaking genius, lets not forget that. The fact that he got so good at such a young age. it was like he had a window to something magical, the same thing bird had. That wasn't ten years of practicing. Maybe Sonny Rollins and Trane were big into that but i dont think Hanks playing at 25 was due to ten years of practice. sure he practiced. but i mean he had something special dawg

i say no way it sounds at all like Bird, although it is bebop music of some sort. And yea the city/timeframe seems off. This is absolutely bebop though and something interesting. -

Well you know my guy there might of been a part II this was definetly at LACMA and you know how I remember the date, it was the same day as the Snoop Dogg concert which was at height of his popularity but then I went to the 7-11 to check the LA Times arts calendar and the weekend priorities changed to trip to LA. You said Cedar Walton right, well that should of piqued my interest cause on my date it was Harold Mabern----- George Coleman, Harold Mabern, Billy Higgins, (bass player oh god was it Alex Blake, Tony Dumas, Roberto Miranda? I do not recall). The last time I saw Billy, the only time I saw George Coleman, and didn't see Mabern again for 15 years. Also saw Ernie Andrews there who was just hanging out

I was there!! are you sure it wasnt June 15, 2000 though- pretty sure thats the date. At LACMA

Chewy checking in here, I have this album as well!!! -
i kept it on for a lot time hell i had a art farmer paramount from like the 50s in wrap- but you know what, when you par down you par down and that includes shrinkwrap- someone else probably already covered this but you keep it in the shrink if it has for example a promotional sticker i had a art blakey freedom rider what i believe is a liberty but with NY usa labels both sides and vangelder stamped in shrink, looks way better off I EVEN REMOVE THE OLD DRIED PLASTIC ON SOME SHINY COVERS- like i had a silvers serenade and the cover is all lookin bad-- after you peel the horrible plastic layer off- great cover- wow ultimate example of this::: dave brubeck octet 12" on fantasy: horrible cover- looks 100 years old: after a peel of the other layer: 100% mint white cover in astonishing mint condition underneath
