  1. so, it was 1980: you heard the new album/lineup, and it didnt sit with you good? Was it beacuse of Far From Me and/or Easy To Love You? The group sonud changed so much throughout the decade, that by 1989 they had reached a new peak. Would you prefer a different keyboardist or do you feel Keith & Donna shouldn't of been fired?
  2. its this one that matches my disc most closely i think does your Lp start off w/ dialogue for like 2 seconds, saying "stopin' at the savoy"? was that the catchphrase of the airchecks like BEFORE the song? is that on your disc before moten swing/intro
  3. thats real good stuff, you got it- thanks
  4. IS COUNT STEPS IN ON THE ALMANAC LP, not listed, BUT IS IT? very important thanks bear with me also checking on side b soon: i got rhythm and moten swing closing theme..... are those on the almanc lp
  5. ohhh ok ive seen vol 1 what is better vol 1 or vol 2
  6. i use 3: 78 rpm, 33/45 rpm and lastly a dedicated player for broadcasting to Hi-Fi AM (45's, rock lps, anything not going through the victor) and bootlegs(speed control). (sadly this platter is also a 12"- needs + 4 in). and no i dont have any space this is nutz in here. I'm glad Dmitry is happy though.im ok w/ my setup too yay everybodys jazz soundin good
  7. why does the 12,000 one look not as good as the 100 one. yea thats what i have i suppose: stereo cart + mono button. but with the proper stylus and the proper riaa bypass. in regards to surface noise, i mean my setup plays quiet when the disc is quiet. i have a late period peggy lee decca that sounds like sacd. also in regards to surface noise: THE VICTOR ELIMINATES SURFACE NOISE!!!!!!!!!!!! When you play, a noisy very old 78 through the Victor, something is happening, compression, or i dont really know what. when the 78 plays, in the transfering to AM.
  8. long story short i cant do it mystelf id have to haul it to the local area audio store, not a pleasnt experience by any means Grado Lineage Epoch3 ($12,000)
  9. now that you mention it my cart is a stereo cart but with the correct 3 mil 78 rpm STYLUS attached, and then i for good measure have the mono button engaged. I need to get what you got though i think oh wait wait oh god oh youre doing 33s i have a newer audio technica cart on my 78 rpm dual 1229 deck: but with the correct 78 rpm stylus + riaa bipass + mono button. Do you think it woujld be worth it to get something like what he got but that would have also have the proper 3mil 78 rpm stylus. ----------- *chewy again, swapping the stylus was easy: a simple pull and push into slot. changing the CART, thats with a mini screwdriver or very delicate attaching the wires to the headshell, corrrect.........i dont know if im down to mess w/ that on the dual, the dual is very very fragile oh wowowowo im on the page now. i thought grado was 5,000. i just dont know how i would attach it- it was easy beacuse the audio technica stylus on the 78 rpm dual audio tecnica cart, is easy to swap. doesnt mean itll be easy to remove and insert the entire cart itself- so fragile what grado gold3 ohhh i need this too. my higher end stanton cart from 1974 is good but this would be better, right-
  10. almost 100% yes. i know this is controversial, but i dont have enough space to plastic-line every lp and such, i used to use sleeves but am very very satisifed with disposing of them
  11. got this from NY antique dealer non lp store for 20 big ones: said in descrip from columbia univ center for jazz studies. an acetate of june 30 1937 on WOR. *does this archive have the master tape and this is why they cut an acetate of it- do they have the basie archives there, thank you
  12. harmony goes all the way back to the early 78 era, scooped up by columbia (?) and revived into what you guys are taling about
  13. god i already went ahead and got the import versions lionel hampton on french rca "hamptons best" series vols 1-3 which covers up to 1939 and vol 4 is 39-40, they all were real cheap, then on top of that do have the mosaic as flac so if i wanna go session by sesion i could go that route, seperate out sesssion by session and really sit down and listen. theres a few digital stages but the victor doesnt really realise that it just sounds fantastic, after you get out the thing out of yr head its a digital stage, if you get past that, nothing can top it well of course something can top it have you guys ever heard of an EH scott. its a 40 tube radio. beyond anything victor or zenith ever put out- its like the macintosh of the 30s
  14. oh for sure, only going for the mono ones- not all have a mono counterpart i dont think, which is frusterating ---- thanks everyone
  15. thank you! looking for: 30's jazz recomendations, a couple points: strictly lp releases, 10" and 12". *Aircheck lps of particular interest (dozens+ of labels from the 70s- my favorite right now is "jazz archives"....) let me show you what i got today to give you an idea: 2 aircheck lps and a lot of 78-comps
  16. lol- hey he also said he knows the boris rose daughter real well and his been thru that stuff-- but all he needs is cash- he needs a rich jazz benefactor to get anything done hes broadcasting in a room w/ all the tapes behind him. all the cd-rs of the tapes.
  17. oh lol are you guys watching on youtube he left my question up on the screen by accident a seconds time and zev said: we'll keep looking chewy.
  18. Zev is live right now and i asked him about Hank 5-15-66 and he said he has a lot of those tapes in his house but was wishy washy if he actually has that one- he needs to be a little less legit and a little more like honeydew and plop that out there: May 15, 1966: Freddie Hubbard, Hank Mobley, Ronnie Matthews, Paul Chambers, Philly Joe Jones
  19. this is way different than duke ellingon i like it and i like it a lot. what i dont like is i havent found a mono promo vol 2 yet can you actually believe the rechanneled THIS, out of all things, someone thought THIS needed to be rechanneled. unbelieveable. anyways this is really good: on the other one i got thats from earlier, one song is by breakout lunceford orch. star GERALD WILSON
  20. got a lionel hampton "jivin the vibes" 30s comp on Camden sealed in the bag w/ no sleeve the other day- lp was wrecked but upon cleaning it became mint again
  21. one of the top best concerts I've ever been to
