Some good suggestions in this thread. I would like to see Jackie McLean's High Frequency released on CD (outside of the old Mosaic box).

"Jazz meets Metal" in Nürnberg, Germany - April 12
Kyo replied to Kyo's topic in Live Shows & Festivals
Thanks, Shawn! Good news: Ryanair has just started offering flights to/from Nürnberg, meaning that you can get really cheap flights from, e.g., London Stansted to the upcoming Generation Prog live event! So if you thought Nürnberg is just too far - maybe it's time to reconsider! -
Hi everyone, I know most of you here sadly have no way of making it to this gig I'm putting on, but at least I have to brag about the killer evening of prog metal fusion that we'll be a part of! Generation Prog live – Jazz meets Metal April 12, 2013 Luise – The Cultfactory, Nürnberg, GERMANY * Panzerballett (Germany/Austria) * Special Providence (Hungary) * Relocator (Germany/Netherlands) If you don't know Panzerballett, sample their new album "Tank Goodness" here: https://www.gentleartofmusic.com/cms/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=154%3Apanzerballett&catid=6%3Aartists&Itemid=29&lang=de If you don't know Special Providence, try this great video for their song "Lazy Boy": After this you should have an idea of the crazy amount of talent that will be sharing the stage with us! Can't wait! Btw, we're just working on a new set, will try to incorporate an On The Virg (Virgil Donati) track into it! 8) All the best, Michael

They also did a nice complete edition of Coleman Hawkins Encounters Ben Webster with several bonus tracks that Universal doesn't bother to include. I really, really don't get what these big labels are doing sometimes.

Wayne Shorter's Without A Net on the Blue Note label
Kyo replied to EyeSpeech's topic in New Releases
Well, I'm looking forward to this album. I do remember this band's previous live disc to have been quite demanding, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. -
Yeah, me too. A pity they still didn't get to that. The April 1966 sessions would also be interesting to hear.
-
Got my copy today and I have to agree about this - nice to have an electric Miles set that covers a bit more material than the usual bits (Directions, Spanish Key, Miles Runs the Voodoo Down etc.).
-
Sad to read about this. I have a lot of his albums and while I honestly couldn't name one that stands out in particular, I've always enjoyed his playing both on his own sessions and as a sideman quite a lot. I never cared to check out his more commercial funk stuff from the 70s, but I did like Kofi and Ethiopian Knights from 1970/71 a lot. And the last few albums he recorded for Landmark when he went back to playing acoustic jazz in the late 80s/early 90s were really enjoyable, too.

Got my CD last week, have been enjoying the mp3s for a while. If you haven't ordered your copy yet, it's about time!
-
So is the music from this CD included in this new box set?
-
You're welcome! Well, did you ORDER anything?
-
I am still trying to find that CD for an acceptable price. Does it even exist?

Got the Timmons two-fer from amazon.de today, it was not sealed - not that I care.
-
I honestly don't remember if they were sealed, but I'll let you know once the Bobby Timmons disc arrives. You can use this link to search for all CDs that are part of the sale (it's huge): http://www.amazon.de/b/ref=ms_sbrspot_14?_encoding=UTF8&ie=UTF8&node=1736008031&plgroup=1&pf_rd_p=363693987&pf_rd_s=center-sign-in&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=872398

I got both of the Gene Ammons twofers from this series. Content-wise they are straight reissues of previous Fantasy two-fers (Gentle Jug and Soul Summit), both of which I didn't have yet. Got them for 5 Euro (amazon.de has a "3 for 5" sale going, the regular price would be 6,97). I like the way they repackaged these albums - you get the original cover art for both albums on the front and the back of the booklet, a facsimile of the original LP liner notes plus another page with discographical info (and the same again for the second album in the collection). No new liner notes, but that's OK with me as long as we get such a complete package otherwise. Probably gonna get the Bobby Timmons set next. I see there are two more tracks from the Sweet and Soulful Sounds session not included, but then it seems they weren't on any previous CD editions, either. Pity about the Coleman Hawkins set omitting the bonus tracks from the previous CD editions, though.
-
Really looking forward to the George Adams box set now that it's out. The Don Pullen and Mal Waldron ones are also on my wish list. Very nice to see this series continue! Hope they'll do an Art Farmer / Jazztet set soon!
-
Love this one!

CTI reissues: box-set, 1971 concert, single titles
Kyo replied to ghost of miles's topic in Re-issues
Have you let Doug know all this? I imagine he'd welcome additions and corrections to his site. -
I like it quite a bit.

Hi guys, with Relocator just being a part-time project, I am very happy to have joined a regular working band last week. Especially since it's a band that I've been a fan of ever since I saw them live around 2004, performing material from their then-new EP Ages of the Sun. I loved the mix of 7-string riffing, double-bass bursts and some proggish tendencies (odd meters here and there, some cool rhythmic ideas) with really catchy songwriting and great lead and backing vocals. They have released two albums since: Oceans and Waves (2006) and the new disc Floor 29. You can listen to their entire discography on Bandcamp (downloads and CDs are available there): http://migod.bandcamp.com This is the first time that their new album Floor 29 (that I had nothing to do with, btw) is made available to a wider audience. As it should be - in my opinion it's an excellent disc! Enjoy!
-
Would be cool to get an Art Farmer set (with the Jazztet album added). Or one for the Adams/Pullen material.
-
Thanks for this, Romualdo - extremely helpful! Good thing I managed to find copies of the Renaud All Stars CD and Cohn's Delight for a decent price.
-
Thanks for this! I finally got a CD copy of this album (only had mp3s from eMusic before) and upon popping the disc into my iTunes, the different (correct!) track listing at first confused me. But then I remembered this thread - very helpful, so thanks again! I wish the record company would correct this, at least on their website!
