  1. Just got the Earl Anderza disc. Whoa! I didn't expect it to sound so unique. Awesome stuff!
  2. How is it? I've been considering getting it for the past two or three months now and always chose something else instead. But I guess someday I'll grab it as well as those Lem Winchester albums I've been eyeing for so long now.
  3. That's great to hear! I kind of slept through the situation as it developed. If I hadn't just lost my job I'd be sending some money myself - maybe next year...
  4. Sounds excellent!
  5. Indeed, a very good disc! I finally broke down and ordered most of the other West Coast Classics that I didn't have yet: Chet Baker - Quartet with Russ Freeman Earl Anderza - Outa Sight Teddy Edwards - Sunset Eyes Jack Montrose - Sextet Cy Touff - Octet and Quintet Bill Perkins - On Stage The following albums are all parts of Mosaic Select sets, I'll probably get those sets instead of the single CDs someday: Curtis Amy/Dupree Bolton - Katanga Bob Brookmeyer - Traditionalism Revisited Bud Shank/Bob Cooper - Blowin' Country The Curtis Amy set in particular has been on my wish list for quite some time now. Soon...

    Curtis Counce

Huh? My CD copy presents The Fox as a Harold Land album.
  7. I've been enjoying my new Art Pepper Hollywood All-Star sessions (one of them featuring Jack Sheldon) quite a lot today so after revisiting this thread and reading all the praise for the Jack Sheldon disc in the WCC series I went out and ordered a cheap copy (under 10 Euro). The samples on amazon.com sounded good - can't wait to hear the whole thing.
  8. Listening to Easy Living now. I love his 80s Contemporary albums.
  9. Thanks. Guess I'll return my single disc edition (the tracklisting of the online store I got it from actually included all tracks from the two disc edition) and look for the complete one.
  10. Thanks. Does anyone know for sure whether there's a 2CD version?
  11. Just got this set today, never heard any of it before. I've listened to the first disc and so far I'm digging it quite a lot. On a related note, is there a 2CD version of Shadows and Light that doesn't omit songs like the single disc version that I got yesterday? It seems that tracklistings for this album often list the original LP content and the DVD has some different songs as well - it's all pretty confusing.

    Gambit Records

They're still online in the European eMusic store.

    Eddie Bert fans?

This is on the way to me as we speak.

It's part of the "Crosstown" 2CD package, as are Bert's two other Savoys. Mighty fine stuff! I think the date with Monterose is spread over "Encore" and the third (besides "Musician of the Year") album, so getting that package is good anyway, to have it all in one place. Wow, thanks a lot! I somehow missed this compilation. Yeah, it's from our Andorran friends once again but since Savoy still can't be bothered to release their stuff in complete form (the Montage compilation contained the rest of the Crosstown material and some other tracks from various artists that I've been waiting for them to issue on CD as well). So the sound quality of the Fresh Sound set is good then? Thanks a lot for the offer, I really appreciate it and if it wasn't for ubu's post I would've gladly taken you up on your offer. But that compilation makes more sense for me after all.
  15. Very nice, those are on my shopping list! I got all the other upcomg RVGs on Conns and the like but it's a great batch nonetheless - some of my favorite Blue Note albums there! Smithville! Finally! Also "Hooray!" for the other half of the Turrentine material from the recent Connoisseur release! Actually I'm pretty sure I'll be picking up all of those except maybe the last one. These are very good news, Kevin. Thanks!
  16. That's a valid question. There are so many things that I can't find on that page these days...
  17. It's already announced for a release in the US via Blue Note. Louis Smith is on trumpet, btw.
  18. Well, no matter how much the disc cost in the Netherlands (especially when using TODAY's exchange rates for comparison with some old price!) my US pricing above is correct. It was not a particularly expensive CD!

If someone can help me find a CD of Eddie's Savoy album Encore that would be greatly appreciated.
  20. Btw, is the album available as iTunes plus download without the DRM crap?
  21. You guys are really helping...
  22. The original price was the regular Connoisseur price of $17.99 with about $16 being the common street price. You're probably talking over-inflated import store prices since the disc (as far as I know) was part of one of the Connoisseur batches that never made it to central Europe officially.
  23. Seems more like a coincidence to me - I'd say they just picked the ones that were still in print.
  24. It's rare because there never was that much demand for it. I've never paid more than $30 for a used Blue Note CD and I own pretty much all of them by now - even though I just started collecting a few years ago when many were already out of print.
  25. Whoa, first time I read about this. And on DVD, too - should be awesome! Or will that just be some kind of bonus DVD? Gotta find more info on this...
