  1. Sounds really nice indeed!
  2. LMAO! Well, they certainly shouldn't complain about low sales numbers. To re-release an album with a playtime of just over 37 minutes when there is so much material available that they could add to it is really laughable.
  3. Cool video! I liked the one song she sang on Tony's debut CD a lot, so this is good news for me.
  4. I saw Hiromi's band live yesterday. Half the band was different than on her last two albums, so I was curious how good the replacement guys for Fuze and Martin Valihora would be. Here's the setlist: Hiromi's Sonicbloom Hotel Bayerischer Hof, Munich, Germany April 22, 2009 Hiromi (keys) Tony Grey (bass) John Shannon (guitar) Maurizio Zottarelli (drums) Set 1: Softly, as in a Morning Sunrise Led Boots Clair de Lune My Favorite Things Ue wo Muite Aruko Set 2: Time Travel Deep into the Night Canon in D (by Johann Pachelbel, Hiromi piano solo) Caravan Encore: Time Out John Shannon's setlist had Time Flies listed before Hiromi's solo piece, but they decided to cut the show a bit short (it really was long enough, the tunes were way longer than the studio versions). John Shannon sounded great with the band. Very different from Fuze, but I love his band Waking Vision and the guitar solo section of My Favorite Things had a total Waking Vision vibe. His playing is less wacky and overall more on the rock side than Fuze, but always tasteful - Ue wo Muite Aruko ended with him playing unamplified! Maurizio Zottarelli sounded as if he'd always been playing with the band - I've seen Hiromi live four times with Martin Valihora behind the kit and Maurizio really nailed those tunes. I talked to the band after the gig and it seems Maurizio might be the new permanent drummer for the group. However, Tony told me that the next Hiromi album will be a piano solo disc, so after this tour ends there should be some Hiromi solo gigs. Tony wants to use the free time to focus on his new project that will feature John Shannon and several of the talented people who played on his first two albums (both well worth getting btw!): Harmonica player Gregoire Maret, keyboardist Romain Collin, Drum&Bass style drummer Deantoni Parks (I really love this guy's style!) and Indian singer Falguni Shah.
  5. These have been available through the Japanese fanclub and also at Hiromi gigs for a while. Telarc is finally releasing them here in Germany on April 24 (not sure about dates elsewhere). Hiromi live in concert Hiromi, Tony Grey, Martin Valihora from the Spiral tour TRAILER: Track listing: 1 Spiral 2 If... 3 Old Castle, by the river, in the middle of a forest Music for Three-Piece Orchestra: 4 Open Door - Tuning - Prologue 5 Déjà Vu 6 Reverse 7 Edge 8 Love and Laughter 9 Dancando No Paraiso Hiromi's Sonicbloom live in concert Hiromi, Tony Grey, Martin Valihora, Dave Fiuczynski from the Time Control tour TRAILER: Track listing: 1 Deep into the Night 2 Time and Space 3 Time Control, or Controlled by Time 4 Time Travel 5 Note from the Past 6 Double Personality 7 Time Out 8 Return of Kung-Fu World Champion This is gonna be awesome!
  6. I hope it's not like that for the entire album.
  7. Whoa, check this out: http://www.concordmusicgroup.com/albums/Jazz-In-The-Garden/ Despite his obvious skill I'm not really a big fan of Stanley Clarke on electric bass, but his acoustic playing has always impressed me. On this upcoming album he's joined by his Return to Forever bandmate Lenny White on drums and my beloved Hiromi on piano - yes, a full album of Hiromi playing traditional jazz piano with a kick-ass rhythm section! Sounds really awesome to me!
  8. That is a pretty interesting list, I'll probably end up getting a few of those once they show up in local stores.

  10. I agree, it's a really nice album.
  11. Finally! I've been working for those three for ages!

    Rare Blue Notes

Don't even think of blaming Cuscuna or Blue Note for this. They went back to "LP order" after a few people complained about the shuffled order of the CDs. I think it was stupid and so does Michael, but Blue Note capitulated to a few vocal complainers. It was a small number of complaints, but it was enough that they listened. There's a thread around here somewhere where we debated it. A few of the more vocal complainers contributed their thoughts to that thread. Why are you defending this behaviour on their behalf? The RVG of The Sermon isn't a faithful reproduction of the original LP (it has an arbitrarily chosen bonus track) but it doesn't make good use of the CD space either. It's just a half-assed release that doesn't really please anybody. And either way they could and should have at least issued all those earlier bonus tracks on a separate disc. They didn't bother even years after the RVGs. I ended up buying both albums twice to get all the material, not exactly my favorite episode.

    Rare Blue Notes

Not that rare. Moto Grosso Feio is available used for $10: http://www.amazon.com/Moto-Grosso-Feio-Way.../dp/B001E4VXJ8/ Odyssey Of Iska has been reissued in the Amazon CD-R series: http://www.amazon.com/Odyssey-Iska-Wayne-S.../dp/B000008C8J/ Both Motos offered there are the LP, not the CD. And as for the CD-R "reissue", it's not really the same thing, is it?

  15. Awesome, thanks! As for the release date, considering how badly we missed the July 2008 mark last time around we'd rather not promise anything at the moment. The songs are pretty much finished, but our new drummer is still learning the material (seven more tracks to go after this one...). We're hoping to record his drum parts this spring, it's hard to say when the CD will be ready.
  16. Hey guys, some of you may remember that "guess the guest star" competition Relocator did last year. Well, after that things didn't go that well (if you want details, read the blog on the site linked below), but now there's a brand-new MySpace page where we have posted a full track for the first time. This is one of several tracks to feature our special guest Derek Sherinian (ex-Dream Theater, Planet X, also playing with Billy Idol and Yngwie Malmsteen) - he contributed the keyboard solo. So check it out and give us some feedback! www.myspace.com/relocatorproject And btw, since the MySpace sound quality is so limited there's also a link to a 192kbps mp3 version! Thanks, Michael (the bassist)
  17. Why would they use anything but WAV files as they are on the original CDs?
  18. The only problem I have with this is the pricing for the two-fers. Seriously, $30?
  19. While browsing through some Adams/Pullen quartet stuff I noticed that their albums on Timeless Records are now available from eMusic - as well as tons of other releases on that label. Awesome, I still don't have most of that stuff! I hope this goes for American eMusic subscribers as well, not just us Europeans. Post your Timeless recommendations here!
  20. But seriously, whose fault is that? Chrono could've done this themselves years ago.
  21. I kinda forgot about this CD. It seemed quite cool at first listen, so it's about time the album got more playtime around here! This bumped thread is a good thing!
  22. I'd really like to know what this was about, I wonder if Jim R still reads the forum.

    2009 Connoisseurs

I second those (particularly the Sam Rivers disc) with the exception of Hipnosis - I'm hoping they'll pick High Frequency first. It's the last remaining BN session of his that was part of the old (and long OOP) big mosaic box and hasn't been put out on CD in other form yet. It's the only BN McLean session that I don't have on CD yet.

    I will - thanks a lot!

    Jazz In Paris

Yeah, that would be the one. I've been looking for it for ages, not in a hurry at all. For some reason it doesn't seem to be offered at all on the net, not even for ridiculous prices. No idea what's up with that, but if you find a copy in a sales bin, please pick it up for me!
