  3. The luxurious life of a jazz musician, the whole band riding the subway....
  4. Only saw the Stones once, a few years back at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh. As a fan of the band for years, I enjoyed watching Charlie do his thing without breaking a sweat.. He definitely looked like he was having fun, without trying too hard. Listening to "Flowers " (mono/vinyl) to start the night.
  5. I'll check my inventory (tomorrow) Andrew is a favorite but 'Life is brief" -R Zimmerman. And I am sure my wife won't enjoy selling CDs after I shuffle off this mortal coil (whenever). So there's that
  6. There is a Youtube video from a record store owner in Phoenix (I think) who bought George Benson's record collection. It is very entertaining, especially the parts where George invites him to lunch and then, on another day, takes him out to dinner. George seems to be the real deal. Here is the link to the first, apparently of numerous, several videos.
  7. Sorry about that.....I got Lubbock mixed up with Plano. As Jackson Browne sang, "these towns all look the same" (The Load-Out)
  8. You guys did good. I got no offer but I was young, foolish and my wife had the insurance covered. I'd complain but who wants to follow he herd.......
  9. I do like those fall 72 Dark Stars. I am still resisting as I have boxes of HQ soundboards from GD trading circles on CDr that sit mostly unplayed these days. Currently listening to 7.27/74 set from Roanoke. It's missing the Encore..a '74 Eyes, but I am sure I'll be asleep by then!!

  15. Some Duke on the turntable......
  16. Hey John, From our occasional interactions, I suspect you will be fine whatever path forward you choose. Being at retirement age and getting the severance package is a nice little windfall that 99% of the folks in your situation wouldn't get. Plus at 6 months of unemployment down the road is nice. I retired (voluntarily) six years ago at 59 and never looked back. Since then, I probably work harder, but have more fun, than I did when 'gainfully employed'. Weekday early mornings usually find me on a 45 minute walk with my dog, and a neighbor and her dog. After that, a friend stops by and we do 30 minutes on the rowers then 20 minutes in the sauna. I stay plenty busy mowing the lawns weekly at my moms, my aunts and my house, as well as tending our garden. (Just turned on the sprinkler!) To keep me away from the ATM, I have been buying and re-selling vinyl, audio gear, and exercise equipment I find at the occasional estate sale. And, as many here know all too well, I have been helping former member Freejazz ( Scott) liquidate his massive CD collection. Still trying to find time to read a few of the classics. About 100 pages in with 'The Brothers Karamazov". With Proust on deck...... There is always something. Steady as she goes and stay fit. You need to keep up with the grandson!!!! Mike
  17. Hey, man, careful. There's a beverage here!!!!
