  1. Elvin Jones Revival. Live at Pookie's Pub. BN, Disk One. Clutch Joe Farrell!
  2. Yep. That's way hip. John McLaughlin. Where Fortune Smiles. Sanctuary/BMG
  3. The Thelonious Monk Orchestra at Town Hall-Riverside/OJC
  4. What a slick sleeve. Never heard the music, but now I want to. Listening to George Russell, The Jazz Workshop. RCA/Koch Jazz.
  5. Great photo, nice sleeve.
  6. Sweet to hear, and I have been lucky enough to pick up a few of those Japanese reissues (those late 60's, practically impossible BN BJP's are gems!) and some are at budget prices, but they seem to be in print only for a matter of minutes!
  7. Yep and yep. Put aside CD's for a moment, and allow me to vent about the Tone Poets. For decades, all I wanted was properly treated CD reissues, and the RVG's kinda did it for me, until that stopped (connoisseurs were gone by then) and if you don't have a turntable, you're screwed. I hate seeing all the properly done LP's that I drooled over, now not being reissued on CD. BS!!! Not fair!!!
  8. Wups, was posting on the bare feet feed. meant to post here: Joe Henderson-Power to the People-Milestone/Keepnews Collection. Think Ron did not feel comfortable playing electric bass. Great record though. Now: Sonny Side Up-Verve.
  9. A Legend. Truly, a remarkable man. I'm so glad to have seen Sonny live at Severance Hall here in Cleveland, 2001, and then he extends his generosity/endowment on to Oberlin College; who hosts one of the best conservatories in Ohio, if not beyond; wow. a truly amazing human being.
  10. Eye-balling this forever, how is it?
  11. Hamp and Getz-Verve
  12. Getz/Gilberto #2-Verve
  13. Earlier: Joe Henderson-Our Thing-BN Now, and my wife is totally digging it: Andrew Hill-Passing Ships-BN
  14. Fair. Maybe it's the messiness that I like, but what a fascinating mess to get to hear genius in transformation. What a treat those RCA's and Impulse!'s are to allow us to look inside; to get a glimpse inside the evolving mind of Sonny Rollins; and I happily accept that invitation.
  15. Wow. Second RCA. My favorite Sonny Rollins Chapter.
  16. You're probably right, but I haven't because I do not subscribe to Spotify, and my computer doesn't have the greatest listening phonics, but I do have a pretty good sound system to play CDs, and I can probably tweak the bass if needed. I am pretty excited about this release, so I don't want to spoil the listening experience; and I've avoided hearing snippets, tracks on YouTube, etc. I have a feeling I will not be returning it, when it's delivered to my house. 🙂
  17. Unique sound, he had. Science Fiction blew me away for many reasons, but the bonus material on the expanded CD edition was really a bonus!
  18. Trane-Live at the Half Note, disc one-Impulse! What a terrific sleeve, never saw it before.
  19. And when he does, I'm so glad he did. One of my favorite drummers.
  20. Wow! Track one? That bass line he builds is almost like what you would hear on a Marion Brown ESP album. Don't have the cd in front of me, but Haden is all over Orgasm. But, before then, when I turned into a true Charlie Haden listener, was Ornette's This Is Our Music; it blew me away for one reason: Charlie Haden. I love the sleeve too, where everyone (except Ed Blackwell) looks effing badass serious.
  21. Ornette-This is our Music- Atlantic
  22. Really liked Flowers for Albert, but just lost sight of his music after that, especially the Grateful Dead stuff. Great talent, though.
  23. Ornette on Tenor- Atlantic
