This sums up what I feel about Dylan. Just like the rest of us, he is no longer what he was in his 20s or 30s, his voice has changed and he’s just a different person. I enjoy his post 1975 material but that Dylan is different than the Dylan before, just as mid 60s Dylan is different than the early 70s version.
  3. I think it’s been a few years since they used that term. I’m actually surprised it took so long for the Savory to almost sell out.
  4. I have several and they are very good. They didn’t file for bankruptcy; they assigned their assets to their creditors and whoever now holds their assets is looking for a buyer. It’s a little similar to bankruptcy but different. At any rate, the company is probably finished. It was good while it lasted.
  5. Mine was also defective. I wrote to Resonance about it two days ago but have not received a reply.
  6. I enjoy vinyl but I also like CDs. However, there is some music that just isn’t on cd. As a rule I now generally avoid new vinyl; there is lots of old vinyl out there in terrific condition that can be had at decent prices.
  7. Those are not high prices. Dave’s Picks comes with three cds and usually sell from Dead.net in the $30s. OOP ones are higher. Lon’s prices are very fair.
  8. I checked out the new JT but it’s full of annoying pop ups, plus when I try to get a new password it doesn’t work. Not too in love with it.
  9. I haven’t been following everything here that closely. I’m mostly at Hoffman.
  10. I didn’t realize that there was an issue with Allen. Too bad. However, he does have a Substack page.
  11. Well said. A moderator’s job is not to drive away people.
  12. When living overseas as a teenager I’d listen to Willis Conover. Everytime later in life I’d hear Take the A Train, I’d think of his program, Time for Jazz. When you live in a dictatorship like we did, you’d be hard pressed to find news you could rely on. The VOA and BBC did that, even Armed Forces Radio, as long as it avoided news about the host country, Spain, in my case. The VOA brought news to people who couldn’t get real news, especially behind the Iron Curtain. Today, VOA has now been effectively dissolved by Trump, a sad day indeed. I could say more but I’m sure you know how I feel
  13. The whole thing sounds peculiar.
  14. It never made sense to me to wish a dead person Happy Birthday. Instead, it’s better to note that this woukd have been the anniversary of their birth. Tuesday would have been my father’s 105th birthday (had he not died of a heart attack at the age of 56). I will simply note to myself that it would have been his 105th birthday
  15. One of the first books to explore Dylan’s Minnesota roots.
  16. Billy Hart Has One Foot in Jazz’s Past and the Other in Its Future No paywall.
  17. Took me awhile to get into this but starting to enjoy it.
  18. He’s been responsive on the few times I’ve asked him a question on FB.
