Mine arrived today. Never doubted it. And, yes, same here with Dot Time. -

Got a shipping notice early this morning, no tracking. Actually, I don’t think that I ever received any notices for the other volumes, they just sort of randomly appeared, which is fine by me. -
Damaged Mosaic boxes - what do you do with them?
AaronG replied to AaronG's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
I might just do that. Thanks. -
So I have been pushing around a couple empty Mosaic boxes that were damaged in transit. Mosaic replaced them at the time. But does anyone have a suggestion on what to do with the damaged boxes? I’d hate to throw them away but would like to clear them out. Maybe someone with a box-less set would want them. FYI: They’re the Ellington 1936-1940 Small Group Sessions and the Louis Armstrong Columbia & RCA Live Recordings.

They do licensed reissues of discs that the major labels let go out of print. They’re real CDs, not CD-Rs. There’s a local store that stocks some of these and I bought “The Gregg Allman Tour” which I missed when it was reissued about 20 years ago. Very pleased with it. Think I might have another title as well but can’t remember. If the price is right, go for it.

Mine arrived today. Never got a shipping notice, just showed up. No complaints as long as they keep coming. I think the volume number is on the cover, so that “no-7911c” is vol. 11. -
In case no one else has mentioned it, the Emanem/Psi website, previously closed for the winter, now states the following: This web site is closed for sales due to ill health. I am not expecting to issue any new CDs, nor to reissue or repress any CDs. M.D. http://emanemdisc.com/

2022 NEA Jazz Masters; Clarke, Harrison, Hart, Wilson

So anything goes if you contribute to jazz. -

I don’t know. Ask Nate. That’s how he put. Maybe he’s being cautious. I’m just not a fan of someone who “aligns” with people advocating political violence. Certainly she shouldn’t be getting a government grant. -

Glad I’m not the only one who feels this way. I called her out—not even by name— in a response to Ethan Iverson’s tweet about the award, saying one awardee was undeserving. Iverson’s response was to block me. 🤔 Nate Chinen pointed out that she aligns with groups that oppose the NEA, but has been supportive of the NEA Jazz Masters. Not sure how that works. -
He’s had a couple recent releases on Ayler Records.

LF: Paul Bley Trio - "Blood" (Fontana, 1966)
AaronG replied to Simon8's topic in Offering and Looking For...
Sorry, have trouble posting a pic, but at least part of Blood is being reissued by Ezzthetics by Hat Hut. -
I’m very interested in this. Zappa is some of the only rock music that holds any interest for me.
-
My copy doesn’t have those strips or the sticker.
-
I have no problem with the alternate takes, but there seems to be a lot of vocals which give me pause.
-
I totally agree with this.

Anyone know a good source for these Barney Wilen Elemental releases (CD versions) besides Amazon? No one else seems to have them in stock.

LF IAJRC Guitar Rarities volume 1
AaronG replied to Stonewall15's topic in Offering and Looking For...
The IAJRC dissolved. This CD was sold out years earlier. -
I basically abandoned rock when I abandoned the Dead. Jazz has filled that space ever since. Only now, during the pandemic, have I really bothered to revisit this, even avoiding this thread until today. There seemed to be some magic in the past, but those days are over.

6-28-74 is one tape I like better than the CD, which sounded very thin. I get not liking Brent. The first half of the 1980’s is probably my least favorite era. There was a lot of deification of Brent later on. But frankly, there was a fair number of people who were happy for a change. All the complaints about ‘90’s Dead strike me as Monday morning quarterbacking, so to speak. It had its detractors at the time, but, as your comments demonstrate, so did every era.
-
Funny to read some of these comments. With a couple exceptions (Egypt 78 and Austin’71) I stopped buying this stuff after 2002. Bad blood and greed soured me on the Dead. Interesting that some people stop with Brent’s arrival. There’s been so much revisionism over the past 20 years. Also, I swear some of my Maxell tapes from way back sound better than the official releases.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but in the last batch of Steeplechase CDs I got from Tommy, the Johnny Dyani Song for Biko 31109 is a CD-R. The rest were true CDs but no one is safe.

Tommy's Jazz On Hands offer - IAJRC Cd's
AaronG replied to jazzmusicdepot's topic in Offering and Looking For...
I recommend the Al Cohn and Milton Jazz Concert CDs, in particular. -
I was there. Recorded on my birthday.
